Actually, the live character was swapped out by a plotscript. _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day. |

Hmmm. Well, you don't really want to go around breaking people scripts because they are not aware that they're swapping out the only live hero. What if they were going to swap another hero back in? Maybe killing the party at this point would be best afterall? _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

Nope, no one got swapped in.
I think we need to have some sort of check so that the party is healed somewhat (like 1 or 2 hp) if the last live character leaves the party in a script. _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day. |

Actually, I'm pretty sure this bug is also in Final Fantasy 6.
Not that that's an excuse; FF6 has over a hundred documented bugs. _________________

That would be a cheap way of getting free resurrections. I'd say either the swap out has to fail, or the game over has to fire next time the party goes into combat. |

What I was saying is that if the last hero is swapped out via plotscripting, then do all that. The player shouldn't be able to do it, but no reason to make things break for the scripter. _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

It was partly bad management on the players fault. By no means were the other characters dead by design.
EDIT: I just remembered this, but in an FF game I played recently, at points where the game takes control (not unlike plotscripting), any dead characters were restored to 1 hp. _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day.

Of course. It's not, say, Square's fault if everyone but Terra is dead right before she talks to the Esper and leaves the party. _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

I agree with Mike. Scripting is sort of there to allow you to do whatever you like, getting around the quirks of the rest of the engine. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

Actually, that can't happen -- if a party dies prior to that event, everyone in it is revived with 1 HP.
If Celes is the only living party member when she leaves you at the IMRF, well, you'd better have brought some Phoenix Downs, Tents, or Sleeping Bags. _________________
