I don't think he ever intended it to be an issue. My, you seem to shout a lot for no reason.

When did anyone say that? _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

To whom it may concern: To prevent the instance of saying something "borderline retarded", try reading the thread again for a more thorough comprehension of it's contents. If you don't have time to post something relevant, then use the little time you have to read the thread over. And I really need to take my own advice sometimes, then PHC wouldn't feel so inclined to shoot it down... It really is good advice. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

I think that a contest where people are given an .RPG file with a maptile set and a few walkabout graphics to make a game consisting on a limit of 2 maps.
They may do what they want with the stuff given - They may not alter or add to the maptiles or walkabouts. They may only make everything else as long as it stays within the 2 map boundary...
They best story/gameplay/game wins... Its more on how you design your game than concentrating on graphics. _________________

I would also quite like to see the "do more with less" contest again. However I don't like idea of just supplying everyone with the same graphics. It'd just get too repetetive. _________________ Locked

Or, here's a new twist on that idea: Do Less with More. You'd be allowed to use as many walkabouts, heros, etc. as you want (and, even encouraged to!), but you can only use them once (or comprable). _________________ I stand corrected. The whole point of my contest idea (Well, seems its been done before) was that people could do less work - Not more.
I rate that even though the graphics may be repetitive - The contest idea is to judge a game creator on his story/gameplay issues rather than graphics. They are just there to make the game look pretty during judging. _________________

There's a certain type of graphics that doesn't get repeatitive after the zillionith use, AND doesn't take any time to draw. With the advent of strings, ASCII graphics can now become a reality!
(Yes, I know there was a game once that tried it with maptiles)
Hahahaha, I'll have to create a public domain ascii graphics engine for Rusalka. |
