You misread me. The current OHR is limited in all respects, while I think the OHR Developer community (or something) is working on a way around the dos Real-Mode limitations as well as the maximum variable thingy for whatever it was James used to build this with in the first place. That's what I ment. It has very little to do with plotscripting commands in this case. _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day. |

I think that the way contests could be run and contests themes be choosen could be greatly affected by the new developed OHR system.
I know moogle hates references to the new engine - because of course it is not out yet and there is no definite that it ever shall be. _________________

Actually the OHR Developer Community (note the capitals) is just a site where programmers can get together to improve the OHR, or a port of the OHR.
And, don't plan anything around a new engine. It's not coming out any time in the near future.

I'd like to see a contest sometime soon that sees who can make the best use of the OHR's new features. Like, everytime James releases an official version, we all have 17 days to make the best game possible using as many of the new plotscripting commands and features as possible.
Also, given the recent implementation of mouse support, a contest to see who can make the most fascinating mouse driven game would be intriguing. |

It's not like you need to pay money and register the new custom.exe. The only reason to not DL each new update is this: You don't use OHR. If you don't use OHR, you reall have no reason to be at CP. _________________ BANDIT REVOLVER, DOWNLOAD IT OR ELSE.

Fernurion wrote: | Maybe a contest dedicated to puzzle games. The OHR does lend itself to the creation of such games. Sheep Rancher for instance. Aside from that, there is always art and composer competitions, as well as games that must contain certain elements or themes, for example, the game may have to have a toaster (or something equally irrelevent) in it somewhere. |
I like. I'd actually enter that.

What the hell is the point of this reply?
I think the idea of a contest based around the new mouse commands would be fun. I'd probably just end up making some kind of sequel/remake for Walrus Chef, but maybe that's a good thing. |
Some of the older versions don't allow for certain things. I came in during the "Wolfwood" era, and there's been a L-O-T of changes since then. Maybe we discussed something that he/she/it can't do? The mouse thing wasn't even implemented until Quaternion. I haven't even got Quaternion yet (Stupid library computers and lousy restriction). _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day. |

You people as in everyone in the thread, or just you people as in myself, yourself, and the_dude257?
Can we just stop that discussion before it turns into a flame war? I just burnt my hands typing that. Wouldn't the mouse thing be reserved to plotscripters/plotscriptors? I still think that the themes one is good. So good that I think we already have that: Human Day. _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day. |
