What we all have been waiting for has finally happened!

The Swedish game Zander has been translated to English. Or at least the first chapter.
There may be spelling mistakes and overall strange language but what the heck...

Don't be frightened by the graphics (it's not bad, it's Dragon Warrior inspired Raspberry! ). It's the plot that counts.

That's not what he said. What he said is it's not plot that counts, and it isn't. It's presentation and gameplay that count.

And a good plot improves presentation and gameplay...

Expect a review someday. I'm beginning to like this game, though the battles are absolutely terrible.

Ideally plot should be a slave to the gameplay. Donkey Kong is an okay example, you need to get past these barrels and climb ladders and go up, that's what the game is about, but why? Well, let's put something the hero wants at the top, a princess. It could've been anything, gold, pornography, penis enlargement pills, but putting the hero's favorite sex partner at the top of the stage gives the player reason to climb, it clarifies what you're supposed to be doing and why. Without something at the top to obtain, you'd be disinterested, you'd say "Fuck you Donkey Kong, throw your barrels all you want, I don't give a shit." If you'd rather make a good story than make good battles and good exploration elements, write a novel.

I know, it's really hard in the start but as soon as you get some equipment it gets easier. And since you don't have to load from your latest save when you die it's no big deal to die. Mabey a bit annoying.

I've noticed some bugs too. The queen in the castle of Morindel can give you an infinite nuber of "life bottles" and they are not consumed by use. Another bug is an item called Wind bottle it screws up the game. So, until I release the bugfix, don't use these items.

As to this plot discussion I agree with you. What I wanted to say was that the plot is an important factor.

One example is Baldurs Gate compared to Icewind Dale. Icewind Dale is a lot more boring since it has a lame, linear story that only has to do with killing stuff.
