Hmmm.. and Halloween Quest 1 and 2 both had a vampire in them. Between the both of them, they had just about every typical Halloween monster, werewolves, Dr.Jekyl & Mr.Hyde, a Medusa, Satan, you name it, it was prolly in the game somewhere, except for Frankenstein (which isn't a bad idea for HQ3). _________________ ---------------Projects----

I'm seriously thinking about entering this, although I really shouldn't. Five weeks is a lot of time that I could be working on releasing The Omega....
I guess I will wait and see what the guidelines are first, and then make my decision from there... _________________ MOCBJ Software - My Games

Copied from LJ, since few people read it.
This game is going to be about 7 MB overall once it's complete. 1.6 MB are in the graphics, with backdrops taking up the bulk of the work. About 5 of that total MB is just in the music selection. Why so high? Like my "experimental" Sachen Game, this one uses MP3/OGG as well, mostly to set the mood in each area. Because finding appropriately creepy enough Midi is such a pain, and also that anyone who complains about bandwidth problems and file sizes these days should quit using AOL.
Not that I'm cruel or anything, the songs are only about 300 KB on average each, so there's actually something of a selection among them all. I did have to cut out a "victory" song, since there's nothing appropriate enough for this game. You're not actually playing a traditional hero anyway, you're a blood-sucking abomination unto the lord.
And if there was happy, celebratory music, it'd be this:

Bonus points to anyone who understands what it's from. |

Wow, Vampire's Curse is great fun, though there are a couple rough corners. One of these is the use of variable bitrate OGGs, which the default music backend does not support: all of these tracks will play distorted and slowed down.
At everyone: If you want to play (the high quality music version of) Vampire's Curse, you should get ('Downloads') the fb-native nightly build: http://hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/nightly/ohrrpgce-wip-fb-native.zip
And remember: do not use variable bitrate OGGs in your games! If we could, we would block them. (I'm not sure about variable bitrate MP3s) _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

What?? I know that Variable bitrate MP3 was a major problem, but I have no memory of any such problems with OGG files. The music in the ogg version of Vampire's curse sounds fine to me. Is this a windows-only bug in music_sdl? |

They play really, really fast for me, but maybe that's intentional. _________________

Odd. Try comparing the title theme and intro music in Game, and what they should sound like by playing the file from playing.tmp
Also, I'm pretty sure sdl_mixer's frequency problems were independent of format: MP3 just also caused a lot of crashing on odd frequencies. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
