This is my final project for intro to animation. It's not completely finished but i just wanted to get some feedback and see if any minor changes can be made to improve it. The assignment was basically to finish a twenty second animation. And it has to be EXACTLY 20 seconds. Tell me what you think.

Wow, that's incredible... It looks exactly like a quickie cartoon you would see on TV (like a really short cartoon shown during commercial breaks)... I liked the underwater scene the best.

However...

I'm kidding! I'm sure they don't give a care about the technicalities.

Reminds me of Peasant Quest.

Despite what it says there, it actually almost exactly 20 seconds, 600 frames at 29.97 frames a second. So it's actually a little over 20. I don't know why it says 19 seconds on youtube.

I was just imitating a technicality nazi for the sake of bad humor. Don't worry about it.

EDIT: I just realized. Youtube most likely says 00:19 instead of 00:20 because it counts 00:00 as a second.

Well aside from the contrast being a little off, its not a bad animation. Not bad for a start but still could use more character animation.

What program did you use to create it?
I don't think it was cell animation, so it must be computer generated.

That is great!

I also would love to know what software you used.

And I love his proportions and the way he moves. He has the same kind of flexible-teardrop fingerless hands that I use for Bob the Hamster :)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think he used Flash.
The behavior of the animation kinda hints that it was done in Flash.

*watches again*

No. Definitely not flash. By that logic, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends was made in Flash.

I can only surmise that he used vectors. The actual application that uses said vectors is unknown, especially since it could be something not well known outside of the animation industry.

"Somewhere on Wikipedia" must mean the main article.

Wikipedia wrote:
Foster's is completely animated in Adobe Flash, the backgrounds are cleaned up in Adobe Illustrator, and then both are compiled in Adobe After Effects. The idea saves some money compared to hand-drawn animation, but not a substantial amount. The technique is broken down even more here.

I used adobe illustrator and after effects, but no flash.

Where could the contrast use improvement exactly? Could you please give me specific examples, because that shouldn't be too hard to change, in general.

As for the lack of character animation, I have no plans of fitting in any extra animating of the character since every additional animation takes up precious frames. I'm already squeezing a lot into 20 seconds as is. If you could cite moments where the character is still that could benefit from being animated, that would also be helpful.

You know, I don't really know where I got that idea from so it may have been influenced by that. At first I thought powerpuff girls but I never really liked the animation too much. Might've been a little bit of both.

No, I mean I copied and pasted from Wikipedia. But a quick Google search shows that Macromedia Flash is now called Adobe Flash.

(Cue rant about how everyone's too lazy to do two seconds of research)
