Hey, I've just only started today to give EACH song a rating. Give it time dude, I'm not enslaved by these ratings.... yet haha no seriously, ill go have a check at this one right now, but ya, just so you know, I intend to vote on all 9 pages of music within the coming week or two
Rest assured however that I rate originality as a major factor... A cover from Thrice ain't gonna score very high... |

Ok, here we go. The song structures are good, there is no disputing that, but the choice of sample and care for sound details (ya I know its just midi but still) trully lacks in my opinion. I know at least one of these songs is a cover which I'm not going to comment on (because frankly, I hate midi covers of existing music, and I am totally aware that this is a personnal opinion with no fully objective cause). For the others, most are decent but plain, they don't have that something "special", that care for the detail in the instrumentalisation, mostly plain, they don't vary much in the use of the samples you have used (mostly electric guitars, and then, the last one uses one of the clean guitars). Pretty empty. It is like they are meant to have lyrics over, and without that, its truly empty. BUT if you job was to actually put songs that exist into midis, well good job for the first one, it sounds pretty much 'alike' (for as far as a midi can simulate guitars apparently) but that's where my creative critic has to stop because copying music by ear, though hard work, isn't 'art' in my book.
If your other songs are your own compositions, I recommend that you have a more subtle touch for details and orchestration. Once again, personnal tastes have me saying "its always better to put more tracks, some of which will not even be heard unless they were missing". And that's it really.
Thumbs up for the basses though, and most drums sound fine, I'm just really madly angered by your guitars. I've got a personnal war raging on against the midi guitar samples (me, being a guitarist, obviously )
I hope this helps |

Wow jars, quite the undertaking. Just like madsoft, I'll wish you luck on that one.
To save you a little time; don't bother playing the PREVIEW VERSION of Drendaloria, as there's a full version in the D section. I sent a message ages ago to IM to get the obsolete preview out, but I've not heard a reply or seen it taken off yet. The preview will only be about 10 minutes, whilst the full version is 30 (with about 6-7 months improvement).
Madsoft; I too wish people would rate songs when they listen to them. If everyone rated, I'd have at least 12 ratings by now. Understanding your position, I'll gladly give you some ratings. _________________ SACRE BLEU!

I'm not sure if critiques were what you were looking for, but I'll throw in my couple pennies.
If you learned to use more of the palette you could be writing more dynamic stuff. (this might be a style thing)
My other problem is how much it all leans to "alternative" music. Which, in my opinion tends to sound all alike.
Probably the most unique song on your list is The One, and it still has plenty of alt rock nuances in it.
Pretty good job with the drums though. _________________ SACRE BLEU!

cool, that was pretty good JARS. Just so you know, they were meant to have lyrics, they're songs I write with my band, and I'm happy that the bass and drums are good because my part is the drums. The guitars are up to the other members. Also, I used Guitar Pro 5 so, the choice of instruments is not huge knowing that it was meant for guitar tabs.
Thanks for the comments. _________________ http://www.madsoftgames.net/

No problem and lemme know when you/if you fix them I'll be happy to "reconsider my harsh votes" lol
And btw, its not so much work than to rate all the songs Artimus. I focus on streaming only midis... thats 9 pages, aint that much of a deal, ive got page 1 done already. Basically, I just wanted people to know I give a big damn about music |
