"What if the enemy had the power to take from you the very will to fight?"
"I fight for myself and for my friends. If he were to defeat my friends, I would fight on in their memory."
"What if he takes them from you? What if he does not kill them, but instead causes them to join him?"
"Those who would are no friends."
"And will you continue to fight if you must fight alone? Will you continue to fight when you are friendless?"
His language indicated that his questions were not merely hypothetical. A great feeling of dread pierced me as I remembered that the Arsevian army had also declared its intent to cease fighting not long after war had been declared. Who was this who not only stood poised to kill the planet but also snuffed out all will from those who opposed him?
"I see that you are not yet prepared to answer that question. Know that the time for your answer is close at hand."
I nodded grimly, and the messenger returned into the darkness from whence he came. _________________

It's the Mule! Ever read Foundation and Empire? That's just the first thing that popped into my head reading this. Sounds pretty cool, in any case.
Also, I am assuming that you mean "causes them to join HIM" rather than 'them'. _________________ My first completed OHR game, Tales of the New World:
