That's right, Valigarmander is coming out with a new game. Not only that, but it's another horror game. After the mistake of scrapping Revelations, and losing Paxia to an unfortunate computer crash, I'm finally deciding to release a new game. A serious game this time. I have yet to decide on a name [edit: Actually, I have Happy ], but I will tell you that the game involves a group of pot-smoking teens whose car breaks down in front of a creepy old castle, they decide to go for help, but are chased into the castle by an unknown force that devours one of their friends. Now, it is the middle of the night as four lost souls stay huddled together inside a dark castle in the middle of nowhere, as the dark creatures claw their way towards them. The game will involve completing puzzles and navigating the enormous castle to solve the mysteries that surround the dark place.

More information to come, and as always I am open to any suggestions. Peace out.

I suggest you treat your buddies as life-lines.

Didn't finish the puzzle fast enough?
Danny suffers!

But your storyline puzzles me. You're trying to tell me that the demons don't appear until after they approach the house? Wouldn't it be smarter to maybe run away from the house? But then again, these are pot-heads that we're talking about Ha ha ha! .

haha. Potheads.

This sounds oddly reminescent of the Pitch series, but hey! It's always nice to see a new horror/puzzle/action game here.

Have you ever played the original Resident Evil? The guys are wandering around, when they are attacked by creatures and forced to run to the safety of a large mansion. My game's story is sort of like that, except originally the kids are headed to the castle for help with a flat tire, not to investigate a missing person.

I like your idea, using the friends as lifelines. I'll definately implement it. Happy

...

Why, no, of course not. In fact, if you follow me into this dimly lit room I can prove it to you. *picks up crowbar*

Today I saw 'Flags of our Fathers' and I saw this guy's stomach cracking or something and his organs were just jiggling around or whatnot and then I puked all over the guy in front of me. Crying

Okay, I've finally crawled out of my shell and started using the latest nightlies, and WOW! So many dandy new features. Better than waiting on my ass for Ubersetzung to be released. So far I'm still working on the opening sequence of They Hunger, which is going to be absolutely terrifying. If all goes according to plan, it will make you piss yourself. Really. It will.

Okay, it's been a while since I've really worked on my game. Still working on the graphics, but once I've got those down it'll be smooth rolling (did I say that right?) from then on. Anywho, I have a little tidbit of the opening script to present to you guys. No real plot spoilers here, just what you'd see at the start of the game.

"The moon shimmers softly beneath the hazy threshold of midnight clouds, its welcoming glow a beacon to the lost travelers. Left behind by a broken down auto, five young teenagers walked through the darkness of the night seeking assistance in their plight. With only a dim flashlight and an old handgun amongst them, it would prove to be--"
Amber: What the hell are you doing?
Daniel: ...
Daniel: Working on my novel.
Amber: Well, do you have to read it out loud?
Daniel: why? Don't you like it?
Amber: No. It's annoying.
Parker: Your story sounds a little familiar... "Five young teenagers?"
Daniel: It's a coincidence.
Alan: I agree with Amber, you both should shut up and let me drive.
Karen: I thought it was a good story, Daniel.
Daniel: Thank you, Karen.
Amber: I don't care what you two think, you all should shut up.
Daniel: "One of the girls continued her bitching at the young, sexy blonde boy, but it wasn't long before her sexual urges got the better of her and she fucked his brains out."
Amber: ...Yeah, that's exactly what I'm thinking right now.
Karen: Okay, I take back what I said about your story.
Daniel: Heh heh...
Parker: Hey, guys, I have a little something to take your minds off the road.
Amber: Pot? But that's for the party.
Parker: Nobody'll notice if a little's missing. What do you say?
Alan: I could use some.
Daniel: Me too.
Karen: I'll give it a try.
[Parker lights a joint]
Parker: Wuh-hoah! This stuff is the shit, man!
Alan: Give me one...
Karen: Keep your eyes on the road, Alan.
Alan: Holy shit, this stuff has a kick!
Daniel: Ah, the smell. This sure brings back memories.
[A loud bang comes from beneath the car]
Alan: Oh fuck!
Amber: What was that bang?
Alan: It sounded like the tire...
Daniel: Dammit, Alan, you haven't even been high for ten seconds and you hit something!
Alan: It's not my fault! We must have rolled over a rock, or some broken glass, or something.
Alan: Fuck...
Parker: Well, no biggie. Let's just get the spare out of the trunk.
Alan: Erm...
Parker: You didn't bring the tire, did you. You stupid fuck.
Alan: I didn't think we'd need it! There'd be more room in the trunk for the pot!
Amber: Well, this is great. This is just fucking great!
Alan: It's your damn story, Daniel! It jinxed us!
Daniel: Well, if that's it then Amber would be all over me about now.
Amber: Fuck you.
[Daniel sighs]
Daniel: Hold on, I have my cell phone. We can call somebody.
Karen: Who? We're stuck in the middle of nowhere, with a car that's filled with pot!
Daniel: We could call Chucky. I'd hate to pull him out of the party, but we could be stuck here for a while.
Alan: Alright, call the fucker.
[Daniel looks down at his cell]
Daniel: ...Fuck, no signal.
Parker: Great. Now what!?
[Amber shivers]
Amber: It's so cold...
Karen: What the hell are we going to do?
Daniel: Wait, look!
[Daniel points to a dark shape in the distance]
Alan: Is that... a castle?
Daniel: It's a bit far off, but I can see a light in the distance. Somebody's probably there.
Daniel: We can ask for help. Maybe they have a phone.
[Thunder roars]
Alan: Christ, it's starting to rain.
Parker: Well, anything's better than just waiting around for help. I say we go.
Daniel: Me too.
Karen: Let's go.
Amber: ...Alright.
[The five walk off to the north, towards the castle]

I planned to have part of this scene a little animated cutscene showing a sedan driving off, just maybe two or three screens cycling through each other. As the car comes to a stop, the cutscene would slow down, then fade out to the map where you see our five heroes step out of the car, just a regular OHR map. From then on, the rest of the opening sequence would be regular plotscripting NPCs to make them do crap, maybe I'll throw in another cutscene for suspense. The problem is, of course, I am a crappy artist and may not be able to come up with the best cutscenes. But I'm sure I'll manage. Maybe I'll just rip the car scene. Oookay... Bah, that's all for now. Hope people are at least mildly interested in my game.

Damn... I just got through playing through Revelations, and I just realized that I had forgotten how much I really loved that game. It's by far the best game I've ever tried to complete, and even though I got a little DOMA and revealed the story of the game before scrapping it, I think maybe someday I'll be able to salvage something from it, after I'm finished with They Hunger, of course. Maybe I'll finish the game the best I can next year. Yeah... But I'm just dreaming right now. I've got more important things to do. Peace out.
