|
|
Hello! I am trying to make a game, and have released the demo.
http://www.castleparadox.com/gamelist-display.php?game=766
Game has unique equiping system, graphics, plotscripting, original music, and corny storyline, and I want help from people as to how to make it better. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Cheers!
Demo is about 15 minutes.
===============================================
"Tests of Normality" is about how people without magical abilities are murdered by an evil faction, and about how two friends try to stop them.

Ok, I liked what I saw, but there are some things that need to be improved.
First off, the graphics are very good for your first game. It's an original style and you pulled it off pretty well, which is more than most newcomers can probably say. They aren't very good, but definitely passable for your first game. Brush up the hero sprites if you want some major improvement. The shading isn't too hot.
I liked the ambient music, but not the melodic music. In fact, the ambient stuff was working so well that I wish you had stuck with it for more of the game. Is this stuff original?
You need to either recheck your grammar or get somebody to edit text boxes for you. There were so many instances of improper English in this game that I lost count. Definitely get some help in that area.
I didn't like the names of the races. 'Unknowed' and 'Normals' are just kind of bland. Try using a thesaurus to find better root words (because I understand what you were trying to name them for) or make the names a little less direct.
GREAT town design. You don't see towns this good in the average OHR game. There could be a little more 'meat' to them, but for what was there, you've done well.
I liked the monster manual on that one bookshelf. Keep making things like that.
You need a quick lesson on making generic NPCs like the Inn signs. Always set those so that they do not change facing when the player uses them. I managed to change one of the store signs to an Inn sign. This is a minor detail, but it did stick out. If you're unsure of how to do this, just ask.
I didn't like the doormapping. When you have a blank edge in one area that leads to another, make sure that all of the tiles contain doors to the other side. (You can set multiple doors to end at the same target door) It's tiresome, but worth it in the end.
I think you did a decent job with the battles. The boss came pretty close to killing me, but I didn't feel cheated. Good job on that front.
So, all in all, I think this is a decent effort. You could use the help of an editor and some playtesters, but I think this game is worth continuing. It won't be a masterpiece, but your first game isn't likely to be. |

I was trying to leave the village after Madty left saying "you'll regret saying that" and the game crashed. I think it is the fault of the laptop and the older version of a nightly though.
Anyway, I mostly agree with JSH. The seashore sound is rather annoying, and so is the sound inside the buildings. I liked the beginning song though. _________________ http://www.castleparadox.com/gamelist-display.php?game=750 Bloodlust Demo 1.00
