I'm trying to upload my game and i'm getting this every time:
Quote: |
General Error
Wrong File Type application/rar
DEBUG MODE
application/rar
Line : 59
File : uploadgame.php |
I've tried the RAR and just the .rpg file. I tried a test.txt file as well and they all fail.
Is this a server issue. Anyone know what this is? |

I'm not sure if this is right; but have you tried turning it into a ZIP archive instead of a RAR archive? |

I am pretty sure that this server does not support rar
rar is generally not a good idea. I know it is popular among some people who trade compressed files often, because the compression ratio is slightly better than zip. The thing is, everybody can open zip files, whereas rar can only be opened by people who are sufficiently computer literate to figure out what RAR is, find a program capable of opening rar files (the most popular one is not free), figure out how to install it, and then use it. This class of person does not include your grandmother.
I don't have any scientific study to back this up, but I would guess that if you distribute your file in a rar then more than half of the people who download it will go "what is this? I can't open this!" and give up. |

As of right now, Castle Paradox only supports .zip file uploads for games. I'd love to say this is due to the many reasons James listed above, but the real reason is poor coding in how the current CP determines if a download is available. If you still get errors while trying to upload a .zip file, please let me know.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ho dang, this explains a lot. I can't believe I forgot how frustrated I used to get before I figured out the RAR deal.
This might also explain why half of my playtesters couldn't do squat a few months ago. |

Thanks for the replies; it is up with ZIP compression format now.

I'm just gonna post my comments in this topic.
This game has some of the nicest presentation I've seen in an OHR game. Some will probably argue against that, but I do think the game is very pleasing to the senses.
The gameplay is very solid and enjoyable too. Great job on the balancing! I haven't beaten Radditz yet but I certainly plan on it.
EDIT: Beat Radditz. Didn't expect the demo to end, but it was still great. _________________

I like this game a lot. Can you fix Goku's head in his walkabout, though? It looks pretty weird. |
