Well first off, I'm really very glad that I was able to help you with some stuff! My second game Tales II (http://www.slimesalad.com/forum/viewgame.php?t=196) has a custom menu system that allows each hero to have his own item menu. The scripts are included, and you can try looking at them if you like, but they were made by me for me (as in, comments are sparser than they ought to be for someone else to understand what the hell's going on). There are lots of different scripts in there that deal with the menues, mostly in the "TNW2ItemScripts.txt" file.
The file "BetterItemSystem.txt" has some basic descriptions of how the whole thing is supposed to work, from what each script does to the over-arching layout of what should happen when the player is trying to look at or use his items. There's lots of other stuff in there (for example, messing with items means that anywhere where an item can be obtained, usually NPCs or shops or battles, must also be tampered with, to say nothing of arranging battles so that each hero can only use his own items), so it might be a bit much for someone to try to learn from. But you're certainly welcome to give it a shot! _________________ My first completed OHR game, Tales of the New World:

*tight hug* This is perfect! Thank you so much! I can actually understand the script very well, I learn best from examples anyway. Yes, I think this will do nicely....
Btw, I'm liking your game too. The red floor tiles are a bit blinding, but other than that it's pretty neat. _________________ "I think civility flew out the window the second I found the lawnmower. With dignity and humanity splattered on the walls." |
