Precisely, it's subjective. Just like the merit of a story.

The concrete analogue of God is Jesus Christ, as understood by mainstream Christians.

Well put, though please ditch the mainstream label.

I actually enjoy games with no (or little) story, it allows you to make your own, something I love. (One of my favorites is Etrian Odyssey, which I doubt you've heard of. I like games like that, and try and make games I make like that. [customizable, like you could have an all-healer party or whatever])

FF1 is my favorite RPG ever, story-wise. It gives you, essentially, one textbox and lets you choose your party. Most bosses delivers maybe one textbox, then fights you. There is very little interruption in the game itself.

There are a couple of longer scenes, such as the bridge sequence and the ending credits, but the game is mostly about the game.

Bleh, the only evidence of Jesus' existence is the bible. People might as well be worshiping Bilbo Baggins in my opinion.

Nooot my fault if someone decides to be offended by what is clearly stated as an opinion.

Opinions are not secure. People have just as much of a right to go against an opinion as much as they have a right to defend theirs.

How did a discussion about stories turn into a discussion of the Christian Religion?

Sure it is, because the opinion had nothing to do with the subject at hand, and was designed to anger people.

If I were to say "I think you're a douchebag who rapes puppies" (I don't, this is an example), you'd have no right to complain, right? Just my opinion. Not my fault if you get offended.

I disagree. Citizen Kane is commonly cited as one of the greatest (if not the greatest) movies of all time. But there are a LOT of people who think it's a very, very boring movie.

A good point, I admit. I'll have to rephrase my wording. Basically, there are certain objective standards I feel a story must hit to be "good". It must make sense at some level, for instance.

But for every rule of storytelling, there's an exception. Hm...

If you could please read the recent replies; you will see exactly how it came to that, and yes it did have relevance to the conversation. We were talking about concretes and abstract ideas. How can I NOT point out at that logical juncture that jesus being a concrete isn't necessarily a good argument, because of the limited evidence?

Uhh, seems kind of an assumption on your part, sorry. My intentions should be known as soon as I openly state it is an opinion (and by now you should know that I acknowledge all opinions as inherently biased, and believe that technically everyone's opinions are correct -- and therefore respect others' opinions -- and therefore would not attack or try to anger people with my own). But if this is your opinion, then I ask that you only consider the last paragraph. I do not lament my wording, it was colorful, and I honestly hate having to word my opinions just right to appease, when they are just measly opinions.

Yep, and I would have the sense to know that I am not a douchebag who rapes puppies, and your opinion may need reconsidering. If it is not reconsidered on your part, it isn't my loss. It takes a lot to offend me. Actually, I can't remember the last time I was truly offended. Especially when I can acknowledge that opinions are opinions, however carefully, or maliciously worded. I can understand that some people cannot help but be offended, but it is my opinion that as a community we should treat each other like adults, and allow each other free expression of our opinions, especially when stated as such.

And here's where everyone nitpicks everything I say instead of passing it off as a madman's opinion, and continuing the intelligent conversation we WERE having.

And here's the part where I repeat what I said, because others drowned out my post.
