This thread is there to post about games that you remember from the past, that for some reason never got released / finished and eventually got forgotten although they seemed to be really promising.

Soooo, what happened to First Fifth?
I just read through the old OHR Monthlies and then saw this game, I remembered it from a long time ago when screenshots of the graphics were posted and I was like "Oh man this looks so awesome, I hope they make a complete game out of it.". Now that I remembered it I wanted to check if it was actually finished, but on CP I couldn't even find a demo version of it (I checked in the # and in the F section). Was it never released?

Pretty sure First Fifth was canceled a loooooong time ago, dude. It went the way of Ziggarats.
I just want Wandering Hamster updated, honestly. I freaking love that game and it hasn't gone anywhere in years.

May not be exactly what you're looking for, but seems Sword of Jade 2 is a pretty good example. Widely "anticipated" for years, and now after it's release, it's been widely forgotten.

I can't really agree to that. It's still one of the most popular OHR games I'd say.

Oh really? Nobody ever talks about it. Seemed like a lot of hub-bub about nothing to me. If people are playing it, I guess I'll believe you.

Agreed. No one does talk about it much, but I'm sure some people are playing it. But for me it never really had a fun factor or replayability, so there wasn't much that stuck with me.

I just ended up playing some of it, and never continuing. I suppose my interest wasn't as piqued as I had hoped. I think I remember saying to myself, 'man, I'd really like to rewrite this whole soundtrack'

No personal offense meant to the composer... I did like some of the tracks I heard.

Well basically what I meant is games that you can't seem to find for download at all and wonder where you can get some if you can even get them at all. Sword of Jade 2 is like the opposite. It's like the largest OHR RPG, is completely finished and it's totally easy to find a download for it not only at CP.

Just because people don't talk about a game doesn't mean that it's forgotten. ^^'
Besides I talk about it all the time.
It's quite hard so I need help often.
At certain points I feel like stop playing because of this stupid day limit thingy I have to restart very often and retry to finish a quest or something in less time. >-<

I also like the music in it unlike Artimus Bena.

Anyways, that's so much off-topic. Let's get back to the original topic. Why was First Fifth cancelled?

First Fifth isn't cancelled, it's just indefinitely delayed and won't be made for the OHRRPGCE anymore. Talk to Rinku.

If it isn't made for OHRRPGCE anymore then it is cancelled, because that means starting off from scratch again.

I guess Team Fortress 2 was cancelled a few times during development, then.

Outside of the OHR community, Sword of Jade and a couple of other games like Missing and Wandering Hamster are probably the most mentioned OHR games (I see them mentioned in conjunction with the OHR all the time). And you can't honestly name many hotly discussed games within the OHR community. It's pretty off-topic.

Anyway, a recent (or so I thought, it's actually been quite a while since the last update) anticipated but now disappeared project is Final Fantasy Gaiden, which we apparently haven't heard about since Jan 2006, in this thread. Remember when they wowed everyone with their graphics?
