| Quote: | | Lunar: Eternal Blue(PSX) | Another proven fake, if I recall, enforcing the common plot device where you "fight a god that isn't actually a god".
| Quote: | | In gameboy's version of final fantasy, you fight the Creator. | That's actually a SaGa game, believe it or not, but the Creator isn't a fake.
So games where you genuinely fight a god is far in-between, most of the time proving said god to be a fake is more of a cliche. |

I remember that game! I vaguely remember liking the way the dialogue was written for that final battle. Although it never said so clearly, I thought it could be interpreted to mean that the Creator was the Programmer of the game :) |

Oh yeah. I know another game that uses "programmers" as the creator of the universe, but I won't go into which game that is.
After you beat FF Legend, your characters will walk to a door, and they will dialog "This world is ours to mold now", then the epilogue ensues. FF Legend's story was both unique as its gameplay (I still have a copy of FF Legend). It was one of my first "Final Fantasy" games (even though it isn't actually an FF game), with Final Fantasy 1 and FFVII coming next in line.
Speaking of FF Legend, this gives me an idea of a feature request that I wanted to make anyway (actually, it might count as a bug fix), so I should hop to Bugzilla. |

well, just to be my usual self and enter the stereotype that was forged for me, I could point out that there is a secret ending in Chrono where you see the programmer and artists |

| Yes, but are those programmers part of the main plot? |

No, but you do fight them! *hides*
Valkyrie Profile is kind of a stretch because half the characters are gods. Using that definition, you fight some sort of god in pretty much every fantasy RPG. _________________

Then again, you get to fight a programmer in FFIV as an optional boss, right? |

| ya newbie_power, it is just a bonus ending that, unless you are some sort of god yourself, could only get with the new game+ function (aka, not through a normal game). Plus they're the only one to scare you into thinking they have reset the game too... thats quite an ability! |

| And as far as optionnal bosses are concerned, I think FFV's are better (though they are not programmers, they are 2 gods if I remember correctly once reading through the books on the last level)... Which reminds me that, though I defeated that big dragon thing with the coral rings, I never really got around the guide on how to defeat Omega... is that even doable? |

The programmers that you fight are weak enemies from the beginning of the game. They're not "optional bosses."
I found Omega was easier than Shinryu, mostly because you don't need to have just the right rare equipment to beat him. _________________

OMEGA - The bard's "Love Sonata" can be used every round while somebody uses Thundage Sword and Rapidfire (X-Fight). Alternatively, you could simply use Quick, then Thundaga Sword and Rapidfire. Both are perfectly fine.
SHINRYU - Equip Coral Rings and Dual weild Dragon Lances, then have everyone Jump. Alternatively, you could just use Quick and Jump, which is more time consuming, but requires less item aquisition. Either strategy works fine. |

What do you expect, an item that makes you even more powerful? You already beat the hardest enemies in the game at that point. _________________

I would expect a beautiful, loving wife for killing Shinryu and Omega.
...
And a Gackt image-song while fighting Omega. |
