Hey guys, it's been a while since I've been here..
But I've been hard at work, constructing my current project: Dwarvinity

I know the file's really big, but .ogg files don't compress very well. Ha ha ha!

I'll have to reconvert some of them to lower quality songs eventually.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could give me some feedback.
Thanks in advance.

This game is fun as!

The only OHR game where my computer siezed, but I went back and continued to play.

Funny too!

Whew! Somebody likes it!
I think that one person enjoying it is better than 20 people despising it. Ha ha ha!

Anyhow, I'm planning to update the graphics, change some songs, include a nightly version of game.exe and actually finish the game by the next update.

This game seems pretty interesting.
I'll be sure to check it out after I check out Genesis after I finish up the demo of my current project.

I get a script unlump error every time I try to run the game (right after the title screen). Am I doing something wrong? I haven't used the OHR in forever aside from Vikings of Midgard, so I'm not sure as to which game.exe to use or anything like that.

Ooh. That's probably because I made this using the Nightly versions..
You can get a nightly game.exe by downloading any one of these. (I reccomend the fb-native)

[edit]The zip file now includes a nightly version of game.exe

Alright, got the game working. The GAME.EXE included in the zip still requires a DLL file to run (the OHR never required DLLs when I was your age!), so might want to throw that in there, too.

I like it so far. Your dialogue is fun, and the characters are pretty good. Not enough time played so far to really flesh them out enough, but the idea is great. Four dwarves, all doing decidedly non-dwarvish things? Yes.

In the elven town that you enter early on, there's only one elf that you can actually fight, other than the required battle. Is this intentional? It seems like my characters should be slaughtering ALL the elves, not just a solitary random one.

I've gotten up to the healer's solo bit, and I'm finding it rather difficult. Equipping the armor (which I didn't notice I had at first) cut down damage received by a large amount, but I still can't kill even one of the dark things. If I could, I'm sure I'd be out of MP after only one or two. I do like the fact that the healer can't attack physically, though.

EDIT: got through that bit with minimal difficulty after finding the other staff. The NPC at the beginning still gives me the "What are you doing? GO!" bit of dialogue even when I have all the souls, though.

Right, DLLs =p. I'll add those in eventually.

I wanted to return to the Elven town to add more elves, but because I wanted to rush through the story first, I kind of forgot about them. I can promise you more elves to pummel in the next update!

With a majority of the battles, the Cleric should be using meditate which doubles his magic ability each battle (Doubles healing capacity and magic damage). So after two or three meditations, you should be able to 1hko all dark enemies.

And the way I linked the "You found all of the souls" bit of the scene only triggers after you talk to him once. If you went past him and immediatly went to the slaughtering, you have to talk to him twice. However, you need exactly 5 (Or however many that he tells you to get) souls. If you get any more, then he won't accept it. This sometimes occurs when the enemies you fight don't disappear. I may have to modify the script so that it accepts a number of souls above 5 also.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll put it to good use!

I got past the healer part by running away from enemies. Look into that.

Ugh...while transferring my batch of game files from hard drive to flash drive and vice versa, I somehow replaced my newer scripts with an older version, erasing both decompiled and compiled versions on both my flash drive and my hard drive. Neutral

Fortunately, only four or five scripts were lost in this process.

I'm thinking about simply continuing my progress in the game and returning to those scripts on the game's next demo release. So if you plan on playing any of the backups that I'll be uploading from time to time, it's recommended that you get in the final castle area of the current version before playing the updates.

Boo!

I hope it hasn't lost any of its charm.
