Oookay... I am a newbie here just like any other. I would like you to present a picture demo of my first OHR game project entitled Hero Quest: Hero of the Seal. Please see New Game Releases page from the Castle Paradox website for further info. Game project completion? 45%. I'm having hard time drawing monsters and thinking up some cool add-ons plotscripting like blinking NPCs.

"So desu..."

Welcome to CP! You can also use an image hosting site such as ImageShack (http://imageshack.us/) or PhotoBucket (http://photobucket.com/) to place images in your posts as well. Also, I believe Inferior Minion will also allow you to host images and whatnot on CP as well.

As for the screenshot, it's very colorful graphics. Everything seems very cleary defined. I would be able to help more if I could zoom in, but from what I can see, your maptiles and hero graphics are shaping very nicely. Please, post more if you can.

At last! An HQ: HotS DEMO is now available!
Download it from the link.

Wheww Oookay... That's a pain, huh.

Before I forget, a hearty thanks to Calehay for his heart-warming reply. Finally, I can now post images of my game. Don't worry, there's still more images to come. I'm giving my best shot at creating tilesets since they are one of the essential parts of an RPG.

Thanky-thanks, sir! Razz

I thought zooming worked in the gamelist-display page. Click on the screenshot to double the size, just like on the forum.

Say, those graphics aren't bad at all. They kind of remind me a little of the early Sega Genesis RPGs somewhat, namely Shining Force. Keep up the good work!

Also, you wouldn't happen to know AdrianX would you?

Hey, the graphics are cool, I can recognize couple of my maptiles there.
Nice to know you found them useful.

Keep up the good work.

Wow. I love the tiles. They own. With a capital 'P'.

Nevertheless, the tiles that are original (I assume) are great, and really blend in with Ysoft's tiles.

It's amazing how often I forget to try the obvious. Sorry 'bout that.

Crying I didn't mean to offend you, Sir YSoft. To tell you the truth, I've been a fan of Fenrir-Lunaris and even you because of your amazing works. As a tribute for being a fan, I decided to include a few tilesets from your games to mine as part of my 1st time OHR game creating experience here and out. But still, I am asking for an apology. I thought it's okay to use someone else's tilesets to cheer everyone up. Maybe I'm wrong about that...

Anyway, here are new screenshots of my game. Please feel free to analyze them, it would be an honor to accept your opinions so that they may help me improve my game creation experience. Thank you, guys.

Here's a mini-review for you.

PRO
- Decent graphics. I'm not sure whether any of it was original, but it looked okay.
- The little window around the battle is neat. The backdrop you have in the screenshot there wasn't in the game, but it looks good.

CON
- Yeah, the name isn't great. I'd recommend just shortening it to "Hero of the Seal." The Hero Quest part sounds kinda lame and isn't really necessary.
- You start the game just stuck down into the map with no introduction and no idea what you should do. When you go up and talk to that guy he just tells you to go south and the player has no idea who that guy is or who the hero is. Don't put the introduction to the story in a text file, put it in the beginning of the game.
- The ripped enemy graphics were terrible. Regardless of whether you think it's okay to rip graphics, when they clash this much with the style of the other graphics, it looks very, very bad.
- That tunic you get raises your Max HP but not your current HP, and you have no way to heal yourself so it doesn't really help you at all. You might want to add some healing items or a healing spell.
- The strike skill does less damage than the default attack. Seems pretty useless. The Kablumm skill on the other hand does more damage than the default attack and can hit all enemies, yet it doesn't cost any MP. This makes the default attack useless. The reason we give heroes multiple attacks is that in some instances one attack is best and in other instances another attack is best. When one attack is always better than the others (Kabluum), the other attacks have no reason to exist.
- Unless I missed the lamp required to go down those stairs, this demo is extremely short. There's really not anything here to tell us about the game, which is kinda what demos are for.

Don't take these too personally! Everyone has to start somewhere. Just keep working at it.

I didn't know you offended me Ha ha ha!

The title hero quest is already taken, while not necessary by ohr engine user, nevertheless, its already there.

I remember reading an article on Quest for Glory series, its original name was hero's quest, but they had to change it because the name was already taken.

Now if you do take out hero quest, the title still sounds cool, so I would suggest use that.
