Hmm, that's actually pretty nifty. I'm guessing that this is how it works:
There's a number of font characters, one each for every "room state" (directions, mainly). Then, you build some strings up with the appropriate characters in the right places. Finally, you display it non-transparent, so it shows up in the box.
That's a pretty cool idea, actually. _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

"Quest 64" tells us it's a Nintendo 64 RPG. From there, we can just do the math. (Also, I'm willing to bet it has dungeons.) _________________

Heh, you guessed it right Mike. Right now it gets the data from the wall map, but in the actual game it is going to get it from global variables.
I am going to design minimaps using wallmaps, and at each level start, the script is going to load the data into the global variables.
After that, displaying minimap is a breeze. _________________ Try my OHR exporter/importer.

|
|
Try making titles by getting ideas based from the game's main story. If your game is about finding something in a dungeon, a generic name, like Dungeon Quest, is the appropriate title for it. But if you're looking for something cooler and not-so-common titles, try these:
Dungeon Siege
<enter a name here, e.g. Eldritch/Forbidden> Dungeon
Dungeon of <enter a name here, e.g. Arcana>
Whew!
It's hard to think up titles unless you, as the game's creator/author, finalize decisions.
I am currently working on my own OHR game entitled Hero Quest: Hero of the Seal. My game's scenarios focus on exploring numerous dungeons finding ancient artifacts and relics that lead to the hidden temple of a legendary seal of Milankar, in which the hero of the game must obtain in order to seal off a vile enchantress with a hidden identity in relation to the hero. Preview sample screenshot? See Castle Paradox website under the New Games Release page.
I guess my game's completion is 45%. The remaining 55% is plotscripting, monster edition and (maybe) extra cutscenes. _________________ St. SeiyaRyu

Whoa, Ryu, you're on your third post and you haven't made an ass of yourself just like I did when I was.
ANYWAYS, that there map thing der looks terriffic. I'd like to make a sort of map system of my own, but it'd be more along the lines of Resident Evil or maybe Metroid. Bigger, more complex rooms... Different colors for rooms you've explored, rooms you haven't explored, and the room you're currently in... Other crap like that... Sweet. Valigarmander OUT! |

| I seem to recall YSoft likes to be generic. |

That is fine, its not like the title is written in stone or anything, I will do some brain storming and come up with different title. _________________ Try my OHR exporter/importer.

Ok, I have decided to name this particular game.
Thalantos: Underground Escape
Why? Well Thalantos is the name of the land where this particular story takes place, I am not sure how much games I am going to make around this land, but this is the first one.
Just decided to tell you this right now, so that you wouldn't go "Huh, I thought he was going to make Dungeon Quest" when I release the tech demo. _________________ Try my OHR exporter/importer.

| I know you're probably pissed at all the suggestions, but why not just call it "Thalantos"? Subtitles are overdone these days, and it's not like there's any other Thalantos games that it might get mixed up with. |
