I'm pretty surprised that (according to the poll) most OHR users have been here years and years, and not many have turned up recently. However, I have noticed far more "I'm returning" than "I'm new" threads. Maybe it has something to do with the age of the engine: what was neat in 1998 seems less so in 2006. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

I think we should make T-shirts that say "I Used the Four Map Version."
As you probably guessed, I started in '98 as well. Fortunately, all evidence of my games seems to have been wiped from the internet. |

| When I was first introduced to the OHR by Moogle1, it was still the 4 map version. I gradualy faded from the community, though, but still do a lot of work in the OHR. |

I think that I joined the OHR community around the time of Handshake, maybe a smidge before or after.
I'd been looking for an RPG engine that was easy to use, and would let me do what I wanted to do! Without doing much coding, that is. <<; >>;
I'd been wanting to do an OHR version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find a text dump of it, and I didn't feel like going through the whole game copying down what everyone said. I was lazy.
I lost the RPG file for that, and numerous others too (due to a recentish hard drive crash. ._.), but I'm hoping that I can get the drives repaired.
Anyway, I think that's enough backstory. :3 |

Still, Zelda RPG? Pish tosh, that'll never happen. |
Well, the main reason I wanted to make it is 'cause I wanted a version of OoT that would run on my old computer, which just got replaced last Christmas. My oldie had a Pentium 200MHz processor (With MMX! ), 96MB of RAM, and NO 3-D ACCELLERATION. And I didn't have an N64, which meant that I had no real way of emulating the game very well. (I recently upgraded to a Pentium III 650MHz comp with 192MB of RAM and decent 3-DA, but I've recently run out of hard drive space — both of my drives are filled almost to the max (primary's a 10GB, secondary's 5.6GB).)
Too bad I don't know where to get a good hard drive for cheap… <<; >>; I'd finally be able to work with MIDIs again, as I'd have enough room that Anvil Studio would stop giving me that "Unable to output to "<insert selected MIDI device here>". Not enough storage is available to process this command." error. |

Hmm, yeah I suppose I could always do that when I get the HDD that I had it on back up and running. :3 Thank you, MCW! |

You could try <insert name of any major computer retailer>, where you could get a 40, or even an 80 Gig HD for less than $100, in Canada. Hell, I got mine a while ago, and they could be bigger, for less. _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

100GB HDDs go for $100 in the states.
Not exactly, but close to that. _________________ "Everyone has 200,000 bad drawings in them, the sooner you get them out the better."

Thank you, James. You've convinced me to go but an external HDD now. _________________ "Everyone has 200,000 bad drawings in them, the sooner you get them out the better."
