Don't act like me. Thats all you need to know.

Also, the three LJ entries I did when I decided to see how W:P1 stacked up against the clichés:

The list of RPG Cliches is a great read, but I think some of the cliches it lists are actually GOOD to have in the game. For example...

Quote:
But They Don't Take American Express
Every merchant in the world -- even those living in far-off villages or hidden floating cities cut off from the outside world for centuries, even those who speak different languages or are of an entirely different species -- accepts the same currency.
ohr limitation

Sure, this isn't realistic, but I'm glad RPGs do this. I don't think it'd add much fun to the game if I had to worry about exchange rates and bank trips every time I visited a new city.

My point is, you shouldn't neccessarily go through the list one by one and make sure you don't do any of this stuff. In fact, I'd go as far as to say you should ALWAYS make the currency interchangeable. (of course, most of the stuff listed is crap and should be avoided... Just be careful what you omit, and know exactly why you want to omit it.)

All I'm trying to say is some of the cliches on the list aren't neccessarily bad things.

I liked the fact that there were four choices of currencies in Evermore, although that can easily be remedied if you allow the cultures to intermingle... Therefore you can allow a universal form of currency.

Speaking of which, how do you get into the bookstore in HQ: Tuesday Edition? I have yet to figure it out. :(
