Just letting you know. I just tried allegro and it took my RPGS graphics and gutted them. Gray was red yellow and all kindsa crap. The other one still works pretty smooth though.

You can do it with F4 if that's enabled. _________________

they are activated in custom, but I can't use them in the windows version. Besides those are the debug keys, we shouldent have to use those. _________________ Indy OHR! and National OHR Month Contest going on now!

There's a problem with the key handler in that version that stops continuous key presses working properly. That is also what causes the stutter effect in the scrolling. It'll be fixed in the impending update.
Running away from battles was a problem with the original release, too. I must be too brave to test that. |

(Also, DOS colours are 0-63 for red, green and blue, whereas windows is going to be 0-255. If the DOS colours are simply multiplied by 4, which is what I do in the Allegro version - I'm not sure how the other version handles it, then the maximum is going to be 252 which is a little off full brightness.)

Hint: windows_color = rgb(R * 4 + R MOD 4, G * 4 + G MOD 4, B * 4 + B MOD 4)
(That's a simple interpolation routine, FYI) _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

fig. a
i don't suppose the font problem has been solved. my games with ohr.ohf as their default font are still readable, but anything that has a custom font is seen like figure a. if i import one into custom, it becomes readable, but after i save and exit, then go back in it changes back to crap. _________________

The problem with that approach is that it will make gradients uneven (although perhaps not visibly). Every now and again there will be a gap of 5 between colours instead of 4. It would possibly be better simply to err on the side of brightness, and add 3 all the time.

Yes, I've solved it, but haven't uploaded a new version yet. Also, it won't fix fonts which are already messed up, you'll need to reimport or copy a working font in somehow.
I will try to get a new version up later today. |

I have uploaded the new versions, now with proper MIDI file support, thanks to TMC. You can now have a BAM and a MID for each song.
Also fixed a few bugs, including the font problem and the flee from battle problem.
Available from the same place as before:

What do they do in DOS OHR?
The keys should work exactly the same in the SDL version. The Allegro version uses different keycodes, so I have to convert them to the right numbers. It's quite possible that I have missed some simply because my lists are incomplete. I'll try to get some better information and fill in the gaps. |

| Whenever I load up games, I always use the keypad enter because its so close to the mouse. Now I have to hit the enter button thats all the way in the middle of the keyboard. I'm too exhuasted afterwards to play the game I wanted anymore. This is a serious setback. |

I've just noticed a really annoying and unlikely bug with the music playback in yesterday's release, whereby BAMs only play the first time.
Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of working on some new stuff, so it might take me a day or two to get a fix released. I might have to advance the release of these enhancements, but they've been going well, so that might not be such a problem. |

No, they play looped (at least, I'm fairly sure they do), but when you return to a song you've already played, it won't load a second time. It was because of a freak interaction between TMC's code (which I should have checked, given that he put "This will need changing" at the top) and my code.
Looping is a problem for me now, with my new code, but not in the released version. |

Well, it doesn't look like I'm going to get all of my new bits done as quickly as I'd hoped, so I've uploaded the fix with only one small upgrade: the non-Allegro version is now double-sized too.
(I'm wondering if I should somehow make the zoom factor an option.)
The main thing is that the music works properly* now.
