Did you try maximizing it?

Yeah. The frame of the window goes to the right size, then snaps back again. It's probably something really obvious that I'm missing (It usually is).

A couple of problems in this WinOHR player, which is really an excellent piece of work and has surprisingly fewer bugs than I would expect a first release to have.

1. If the window isn't highlighted it still detects my keypresses, for example if I have a game running and am talking to someone else in AIM the game still detects whatever I press, even though those keypresses were not intended for the game, but for another window.

2. I can't change the size or maximize it. When I try to maximize it just centers in the middle instead. And since it's so small (320x200) it's really hard to play in high resolutions. I suggest allowing a 2x 3x and 4x resizings, this would slow it down a bit but be much better. Also it seems to have a maximize / fullscreen mode for others but not for me? But yes, even just a 2x resizing would really improve this, it's kind of hard to play it when you can hardly read the text.

3. I've a question: are we allowed to include this WinOHR player with our games? Is this open source, same as the Ohrrpgce? I.e. what is the legal status of this program?

4. Since running is required in the first battle of SoJ, it makes it unplayable. But as soon as that bug is fixed (and resizing is allowed and it doesn't detect keypresses from everywhere) we (Rpgcreations) plan to package this with the SoJ download file. It's really great, it will give the game a much larger audience than it would otherwise have had.

It is GPL, same as the DOS OHRRPGCE

Yes, full screen mode (which you can switch to with alt-enter) is quite broken on alot of computers, especially those with LCD screens. Also, on my LCD screen the colours are all wrong - there are uneven gradients across solid blocks of colour (for some reason, I also get the same effect when running QBOHR in DOSBOX and taking screenshots under windows). I blame the unusual resolution - I have seen the same effects from the Allegro library at 320x200. Also, IM says he had similiar problems when running the windows version in wine in full screen.

Scaling seems to be the way to go, at a huge expense of speed.

Wine would allow for Full Screen, but the HSync was out of wack. The middle of the screen seemed to update correctly and then the top and bottom half would have horrible artifacts.

Under the Linux version (no wine), I had the same problem as Ssalamanderr: Maximize moved it to the top left, ALT+Enter did the same thing. It never entered full screen, but I saw a flash of black before it returned to 320x200.

You personally may not've, but word on the street's that the thing's in planning. Lot of talk about it from Caron and TeeEmCee in that thread on the OHR Board, leastwise. I'd be pretty disappointed if it didn't happen.

Erm, sort of. My thing was a rewrite. If Custom itself was ported, I'd be happy as a clam.

The Windows port is screwing up my BAMs. Some notes aren't getting cut off properly and as a result are stacking up over the course of the song.

What? I don't think I said anything about CUSTOM. Hoever, that is the plan: to port CUSTOM as we have done GAME, and then completely drop the QB version. But nobody said we were doing it soon.

I don't have anything to do with the music, but I'm strongly in favour of BAM to MOD conversion. Unfortunately, that could add even more slow down.
