This is the introduction piece to a 30 minute 'album' of sorts I've put together, comprised of most of my best compositions over the last 7 months or so.

A song later in the composition.

Feel free to comment,

I've given it a listen, and it's pretty neat. Ya'll should give it a listen, you'll probably dig it. It's got a really neat kind of rhythm to it that I can't even begin to describe.

I wish I could just post it as midi, but I don't like the idea that someone can import to whatever program and see it all in notation; besides that, easily being able to place it in their games via midi2bam.

Maybe I'm paranoid.

For some reason it does it to me too; but that's the right address. Did you try copy\pasting?

That's really weird.

No, the file's not downloading for me right now, even with the copy/paste. May be a server issue, so I'll try again later. Apparently Giz got it to work.

Oh, never mind, it IS downloading, but it's doing about a second of music for every minute of download time. Slow as tar, so I guess I'll download it while I eat lunch or something.

It seems to me that copy and paste does the trick... For some reason its taking forever to load...

Finally finished listening to the whole thing. It takes forever to download. Do something about that.

It shows a good knowledge of harmony and music theory in general, but it lacks direction. I know that's kind of vague -- I guess I'm trying to say it needs a more definite melody. A good song is one I want to hum along with and this one isn't melodic enough to let me do that.

Also, don't overdo it on the orchestra strikes. It wasn't a problem in this song, but it was nearing the threshold.

Try that;

Perhaps the fact that it's an opening to a huge composition makes it feel like that. There are three 'versions' of the song, which interweave throughout the piece.

Or maybe it's the fact I was going more for movie soundtrack than game soundtrack.

Or maybe I'm not doing something right.

Meh, it's one of those songs that would make good background music if it weren't such low quality (get setu to run it through Nuendo), but it's not something you really remember later.

By the way, the really good movie scores are memorable. That's why I don't like Hans Zimmer: His music sounds great, but he always makes a different theme for ever situation in the movie (Setu does the same, but in video games the repitition helps). Danny Elfman and Joe Hisaishi are awesome, though, because they come up with a truly memorable theme and use it throughout the whole movie. And now I got Castle in the Sky stuck in my head. I now must watch that movie. Goodbye.

I have nuendo, actually. Learning how to use it, presently.

Neutral I likes. You really should post a MIDI version as well, so people with 36kB modems like me can listen to it without waiting 15 minutes. Very nice still, very repetitious, it all seems to be the same level throughout- always building - but not getting anywhere; and, it is unary form- very boring. I personally like the choice of instruments, but I lost interest after about 2 minutes.

Don't worry about people stealing your stuff, what satisfaction can they get? And some people (like myself) can just play things by ear. It's not as fun as composing your own piece, though.

I've been revising this song, and the whole album it opens, for weeks now. It's a little different now, but thanks for the feedback. : )
