I think it's closer to 15, but it depends on your clock rate.
You need a large delay to ensure proper turn order. If an enemy and a hero finish their delay around the same time, the enemy will attack first. This causes big problems when the enemies greatly outnumber the heroes. _________________

So, should enemies have slightly higher delays, or maybe I could make their speed 950 or 900?
Sorry if I ask too much. I never really used delays before.... _________________ http://hellyeahmyownurl.spaces.live.com/default.aspx?_c02_owner=1

I'd set their speed much, much lower. At 999, the meter fills up in one tick. You might set their speed at 200 or less to account for the time the player will spend selecting his attack. _________________

Ah. But are the heroes ok with 999, or less?
I'm gonna make a copy of my rpg file just in case I don't like the changes i'll make trying this out. _________________ http://hellyeahmyownurl.spaces.live.com/default.aspx?_c02_owner=1

Heroes are fine with 999 unless you have "hold the spacebar" battles. _________________

Well, you could use spells, but you could get through most of the battles w/ spacebar mashing....Maybe I could have the main attack under a menu which has all the spells.... _________________ http://hellyeahmyownurl.spaces.live.com/default.aspx?_c02_owner=1

There's a (roughly) -4% chance of that happening.
No, I don't know what a negative percentage means. _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

Percents are like measurements. Take the absolute value. He may have somebody do it for him, but the chances of that are 1::25 (4%). We have reached an age where the lay-OHRer tries to do it alone. _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day. |

Yeah, except I don't mean the absolute value. I mean, quite literally, -4%. See, the only way we could get battle scripting is if we take TMC's battleless engine, and add it in there, using the extra room we got by removing battles.
See what I'm getting at? _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

O_o
Or... maybe you could make your battles require a strategy beyond just attacking repeatedly. _________________

Wow! Moogle, you just opened up a whole new world for me!!!!
Serious;y, I should. I have "weaknesses" on enemies, but I guess It would be better fpr them to actually be vulnerable to one type of attacks....
Anybody have other ideas?! _________________ http://hellyeahmyownurl.spaces.live.com/default.aspx?_c02_owner=1

Yes. Play more games.
Play Thanksgiving Quest, for starters. Battles don't have to be about who deals more damage to whom. The big problem with far too many games is that every attack boils down to a different way to do damage to an enemy. Games with good battles have status effect spells that are A) useful and B) necessary. _________________

...You seriously didn't think of that yourself?? An idea that I'll use is have some attacks depend on a different stat combination than the default "Atk-Def" one. Like "Spd-Avd" or something... _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day. |
