actually, it's an apache word, roughly meaning "enemy". (much like "anasazi" is really a navajo word meaning "mortal enemy".) the navajo have their own word for themselves, which they're apparently not sharing with anyone else because i can't recall it, though i do remember hearing it once.

and at least apache is their own word. (and while i'm at it, so is hopi, who are the desendants of the anasazi.)
