At least IM's not the only one actually saying something useful. No, this isn't a flame, I'm pointing out my opinions on this issue, that a) too many people don't worry about roping everyone into this without justification (I wouldn't have cared any more than IM, frankly, if he had indeed closed the site), and b) Frankly, this is how the world works, so either eat your pride and move on, or... what else could you do with an "everyone complex", anyway?

Need I say more?

Note: This was not intended nor should be taken as a multi-flame. I was just stating my views on this subject.

Setu, you're starting to flame people yourself.

Just because that's the way the real world supposedly operates doesn't mean it's not wrong. I problem with communication is a problem nonetheless.

Also, for the sake of argument, the "insult" I PMed this guy, take a look at it yourself and tell me just what is so insulting about it, 'cos I just don't see it:
"If you click on the "Edit Reviews" link at the top, you'll see that all of your reviews have been rejected, and they'll continue to be rejected until yuou start writing actual reviews. Read a few existing reviews to see what a review's supposed to look like."

In proper context, the user, tom.9boy, made a habit of posting about four reviews, three or so of them from the same game. They were all really lazy, in most cases only one sentence at the end, so I, as politely is possible for an "arrogant prick" like myself, asked him, via PM to try to edit his reviews instead of adding new ones, and to try to shape up on how he was writing them. After I was met with undue hostility, I tried to help still. He got more hostile, I issued him a warning, he kept at him, I banned him.

In retrospect, I could have handled it better, but IM totally skewed the situation and blew it out of proportion.

If you're referring to what I said to Uncy, then know that my comment was a general one, not one directed to insult Uncy.

If you're referring to what I said to Hunter, then tough freaking shit. He can say whatever the hell he wants to to insult someone's artwork without representation, and yet there's a problem when I make a harsh remark about it. Yes, I shouldn't have said what I did; however, if you care to notice, his remark that I quoted was nonetheless the same type of remark, so please don't go there.

I've had trouble with hackers on the past, so I know how much of a headache thay can be. (He hijacked my modem while I was on CP. A coincidence I think). Overall, IM does a great job of keeping this site going. Looking at his post, if the joke had gone through to it's conclusion it would have been, as Rinku said, Funny and cruel.

Everything else I had to say has been said, Although IM had his reasons for Banning him, CN was a great admin. Some users Simply need to grow up or move on. And finally, cut the flaming.

Setu, there is a difference between "I hate your art" and "you are an asshole". Even if neither is justified, the later is much more of a flame.

Well, I'm not much one to get into CP politics.

Seems to me like alot of bad things are being said to people with good intentions.

Hell, all I ever wanted to do is make RPGs, play, and discuss them.

As far as flameing goes;
There are just some people that need an boot in their ass.

I, for one, would not cry for CP if it were to die. Heck, I'd bet that some would say it's *already* dying.

I've just been an observer for the past while, and I've noticed that some people have been labled as n00bs for no apparent reason. An example would be Nathen Somethingorother who just went on a posting spree. Sure, he revived threads older than my PC. Sure, he made posts with nothing of any substance in them. But, don't we all?

My point is not to attack CP about n00b handling. My point is that too many people here are too high-strung about too many things here. I think that IM's joke was rather funny, and the type of thing I might do. Sure, it may not have been funny to CN, but as I mentioned in another thread (the status of which I haven't checked before replying here) CN isn't hurt by this. He now has an un-allocated pile of cash. I wouldn't mind that.

Now, as for the "CN's Story vs IM's Story", I'm taking everything with a grain of salt. IM isn't totally in the clear on this issue. If I were IM, I would have told CN a week before anything was scheduled to happen. I'm sure that everyone will agree that telling one more person would be an acceptable sacrifice to fool (and please) the rest of the community. But then again, I suppose that if I were in IM's position, I would'nt tell CN, if only for fear of him running to the forums and SAVING US ALL FROM THE METRIC RULER!

Ok, so I threw in that last part to revieve tension. So shoot me.

Now, I know that some people are going to disagree with what I have to say. Some of those people may even do so because of my low post count. But, whatever. I still believe in everything I said.

I think Nathan flamed people for religious reasons.
But that's not up for debate here.

God, you're all being such children. Yes, I'm pulling the age AND vet card in this post, so if that might piss you off, press back or scroll farther down, whatever.

IM, you rock. This was a great gag, and would have had a great ending, had it not been blown out of proportion by people with their own agendas (More on that later). CN shouldn't get so bent out of shape about it if, as you said, he can't host a site anyway on his connection. besides, as the dude above me pointed out, he now has a hunk of cash he can spend on whatever he wants. It may be a weak argument, but had CN relaxed a little and not gone all batshit pussy insane about it, he would've had the site he wanted AND the cash.

Setu has already posted some of this, but I want to reitterate what I thought.

Hunter, shut the fuck up. You're not funny. No one here thinks so. You sit here and add nothing but shit to a pretty important thread, and then get offended when people call you on it. Grow up, kid. You'll soon realize you can't make it on sarcasm and horseshit.

Uncommon, Setu said exactly what I was going to say. It's the real world. deal with it. No one needs to have a little pow wow and sing kumbaya to make sure we're all square with a certain act of legislation. This forum, in my opinion, is run too much on what people expect they should get when, in all actuality, it's up to the people in charge who should or shouldn't be banned, kicked off, whatever. I'm on a set of forums now where they basically have no tolerance for any bullshit, and once you're out, you're out. And it's the most fun forum I've ever been on. This community is too soft, and certain people have expected that they're owed some sort of political justice when... no. It's just a computer and some guys on the internet. Get over it.

Leroy, don't say CN is looking out for the community. Well ok, he MIGHT be, but from what I've observed in his time here, since day 1, he's been an attention whore. Likely a psychological thing that he needs to be the center of attention. he needs to feel important and powerful somewhere, and this is his only means of doing it. He is out for his own agenda. I, and several other vets, some of which have since left, have literally been noticing this since he joined the community. How he got into such a high position baffles us almost as much as Fyre continuing to be unbanned.

Basically, it's this, gents. get over it. if you disagree with something, leave. You are not special. You do not get special treatment. No one wants to hear about what this admin did to you, or whatever. He was put into place as an admin because someone trusted his judgement, and if he had a reason to give you the boot, so be it. If you lost your adminship, get over it. Likely, the person who gave that to you felt you didn't deserve it anymore. Do you need a reason? No. Just accept it and either leave, or adjust.

But I must reiterate, with the acception of a few of you, you're all being children. it was a damn funny joke, and I commend IM for his efforts.

Although I would not have used the harsh language, as it is not of my nature, I certainly agree with the above post. We are all a community; this means we need to accept the fact that there will be differences in opinion. And, we should grow up. Let's act like we are, at least, semi-professional game designers who all get together for a commune. Yes, we should joke around and at times be serious; most of all, we are here to have fun. The only reason why you all appearantly stay here is because you're having fun flaming people, and people are getting hurt. We should behave as adults, and work together. Be constructive in criticism, and enjoy this free service so graciously provided.

That's my two cents.

Yes, I agree. But as has been mentioned before, CP is full of pitholes and unwritten rules. The only way to feel things out is through experience Sometimes experience comes in the form of a boot to the rear end, sometimes it's not so drastic. But, I think it's a bad sign when the only rules thread is in the forum that's closed.

In any case, some of the things he said WERE meaningful. But, anyway, I'm not here to defend any one, or attack anyone.
