I think you're confusing inventory with equipment. When you swap out a hero, they'll keep wearing all the equipment they had on, but each hero doesn't have his own inventory. So when you switch heroes, each hero will have the same inventory unless you use some plotscripting to make individual inventories for each hero until they meet up and their inventories combine.
