So here's the contest concept: take a well-known song from a well-known game and make it into a different style of song. We all know how many times the Chocobo theme from the Final Fantasy series has been re-arranged. What if you re-wrote it as a fight song or dungeon theme?

The song:
All entrants must re-arrange Kefka's theme from FF6 (this song). You can make it into any kind of song you'd like. As long as the melody is still recognizable, the song qualifies for the contest.

Criteria:
Most importantly, the song must be recognizable as Kefka's theme! You can change the time signature, key, style, instrumentation, anything you want, as long as a random listener would still know it was Kefka's theme.
Originality is also a plus, as is the quality of the arrangement. Ultimately, the winner will be decided by a vote of the members of CP.

Deadline:
The deadline for this contest will be Saturday, March 12. All entries should be in by that morning.

Just thought I'd note this: Part 3 and part 4 of Dancing Mad are pretty good examples of Kefka remixes. Asides from that, count me in this.

EDIT: In addition, it might be a good idea to move this thread to BAMtastic and make it open to everyone.

Um... okay, then.

Yes, Dancing Mad makes liberal use of Kefka's theme, but it also blends in a lot of the Opera. As far as this contest goes, it'd be a good idea to write something that's more Kefka-centric (I do believe I will copyright that word).

I'm thinking of writing the Kefka Love Song for my entry. Big grin

Oh noes. If only I was a big enough FF fan to be inspired to do well at this. I might just recompose the song and go from there. Same song with minor adjustments, like instruments changes. It's better than nothing.

I declare myself winner of this contest by default. Nice try, but there's just no fooling the Moogle.

Unless it makes me lose the contest, that is.

I'm in it for the practice, the challenge of coming up with something good, and the fun, which ensues the aforementioned. Moogle can keep his prize. (Or what ever... *raises an eyebrow*)

Title: The Magic Empire of Kefka

It's probably not as Kefka-centric as some would like, but meh.
