The New Year is coming and it seems to me like a lot of games have been churned out. So I figure, since this is a community site, we should vote on which games were the best and worst of 2004. If you'd like to vote, post with the following:
Best:
Worst:
Thanks. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Perhaps I misunderstood, but I was assuming we were only voting on games released in 2004. Trailblazers was from 2003. _________________ Locked

You know, 2k4 had some of the best OHR games ever released since some of the old fogie classics that I'm attached too.
Shadowiii's Personal Rating
Best: Pitch Black 2
Worst: OHR-Date 1.5
Everyone Else
Best: Hard to pick, guess Walthrus, or the Put on Shoes Deluxe Set (though it isn't really OHR)
Worst: Lots, but if I had to pick...Hentai Quest. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

Best: A hard pick. Three come to mind for setting the standards of 'good games' this year.
The first is Walthrus, which completely blew everyone out of the water when it appeared. Not since Arfenhouse have we had a game which so utterly set the standards for what is funny. It's also a great set up into the world of Surlaw, and a way to get people to play a game they otherwise probably wouldn't. This is my pick for game of the year - because most of the rest were judged by it.
The second is OHR House, which is perhaps the only community game to date that worked.
The third is Trailblazers, which still has yet to get a review that isn't an A+. Either because reviewers are lazy, or the game is just that damn good.
Worst: Way, way, way too many to count. The fact is, is that I won't even play 98% of the games released now, simply because they're just that bad.
The absolute worst game I've played this year was without a doubt that one by venxz where... um... actually if you can't remember a thing about the game because it's just that bad, then that's all the better. The fact that I can forget all these abortions of OHR games says something profound. Yes, I'm well aware that some people have put their best into their games and yet even MY first newbie game can beat the hell out of theirs. Not all game creators are made equal. This year, we just got the worst. 'Nough said.
The game that was hyped up a LOT this year was definately Crescent Dream, followed by Halloween Quest II. These two were essentially the 'BIG' RPGs this year. Oddly, most of the games were 'joke' games or movies like OHR House and OMGTIZROXORS. and the one game that was expected most (SOJ:PD), still hasn't come out yet, despite numerous announcements it would be out by Thanksgiving, then Christmas, etc (I've got $20 riding on the day we make 'First Contact').
The games I'll be looking forward to in 2005 are of course SOJPD, ZFRT OHRhouse2, OHRdate2, WalthrosR, and whatever the next demo of Wandering Hamster will be, provided it comes out at all. Don't expect anything big from me in the near future (on account of financial status), though I may surprise a few people in late april. |
