As long as you have people reading through the reviews and making sure they work as reviews (that is, they go through and explain why everything is rated as such), there really shouldn't be a problem with reviews by a game's author. _________________ UP DOWN UP DOWN LEFT LEFT RIGHT RIGHT A B START |

You might haven't read the previous messages, all 3 pages. No matter, what someone says, but I remain in my opinion: Authors should not do reviews of their own games. That is kinda cheating. There stills that possibility, someone Reviews his own game to awesome game and then it's truely a piece of junk. So I say again.
AUTHORS SHOULD NOT REVIEW THEIR OWN GAMES! _________________ All activity has been moved to Polarsoft |

*sigh* People, please.
It's all a matter of paying attention in writer's comp class.

It isn't cheating. Anyone looking at the review SHOULD be able to notice the fact that the name on the review and the name on the game are the same. Taking that into account, most people would then think "ok, this is a review by the author. I must take care and remember that this is a potentially biased review."
In fact, all reviews are potentially biased. If you take what a review says as fact, you're displaying a distinct lack of intelligence.
Of course, I suppose I can't expect such brainpower from everyone, so therefore we can't allow anyone to review their own game. You know, because someone might spend five minutes downloading a game that turns out to be not as good as they thought it would be. _________________ UP DOWN UP DOWN LEFT LEFT RIGHT RIGHT A B START |

But isn´t there a possibility, author has got more than one account. So he publishes his game with one account, but self-reviews it with another. Then it effects to the average grade.[/b] _________________ All activity has been moved to Polarsoft |

I'm fairly certain the admins monitor who has an account, and take appropriate steps to fixing those who have more than one. _________________ * SDHawk has joined #Minnek

Besides, you'd have to be pretty desperate to do that. _________________

Who cares? If it just praises the game with no reasoning behind it, the review will not be accepted. If the review is good enough to be accepted, then what's so bad about it affecting the average grade?
Personally I'd guess that people look more at the individual reviews than the average grade anyway. _________________ Locked

| Besides, cheating is an entirely different issue than reviewing under your own name. If you're cheating, a ban on self-reviewing wouldn't make a difference, since you're trying to make it look like someone else is giving you a good score anyway. |

Ok... I'll change my opinion. Authors should not review their onw games, unless it can be keeped as a preview review.
And why on EARTH this topic became so silent? _________________ All activity has been moved to Polarsoft |
