Of course all humans are humans, it's the important stuff that matters, like philosophy and the things you do. A good doctor and a crackhead are both born as humans, yes, but all similarities stop there. Shouldn't you be trying to convince us that everyone is "unique" instead of pointing out we are the same species of Homo Sapien? _________________

Alright, I've read this entire damn thing, start to finish. I've read what is in my opnion stupidity and what is brilliance, And now i'm going to try and put a suggestion in and stick out from the community by making mine more defined rather than making a general statment such as "things need to change". Well, no shit, but how?
So, to get to the point, I think we should have events that more people can take part in rather than we split up and do our own things. If we all put are collective talents together and made one big community game, we may set aside diffrences and rebecome a cimmunity dedicated to making games.
second, I think James, If he has the time, money and support, should have his own forums on HamsterRepublic. He seems to be the most logical out of all of us. Besides, He's the reason we have this site to begin with.
To put it simply, stop dividing and hating eachother. Do something to better our selves as a community and maybe we wont fall apart and go away like predicted. _________________ "what everyone went around calling you white stormy?"

First of all, this topic was going way off the subject just now. Where does CN and Uncommon losing Administrative status fit in with people and the philosophy surrounding their equality at birth?
Second, lethal255, remember last year about this time and a game called "Ninja for Hire?" Yeah, probably not because it never got released. We tried making a game as a community and it never worked out (Sadly, and I participated in it too).
Third, I've read the entire argument, and I've tried to think from everyone's perspective on this. Ultimately the people here need to change for the better of us all. I went back and started reading the old threads from when CP was first started, and back when I first joined. I said some stupid stuff and was warned many times. I took each warning as a chance to improve myself as a member here.
I'm not sure if I posted the first message I posted here back in April of 2003 last week if I would have been banned or not, but what I'm saying is that this community used to be a lot friendlier than it is now. What went wrong?
I remember how much I used to post because I wasn't afraid of being flamed or insulted by other people. In the last few months I've posted very little because that seems to be the popular thing here these days.

I guess ninja for hire came our before I started reading the forums, and it seems sad that it fell apart. But why not try again? maybe we could learn from what made Ninja for Hire die, fix it and make a newwer game. You should never give up after failing or doing poorly. If we all just quit while the chips were down, than we wouldn't have square soft/square enix.
EDIT(Adition): I wasn't saying it was the greatest idea, i'm just saying don't complain about whats happening, actually try and do something about it. _________________ "what everyone went around calling you white stormy?"

Yea. I loved doing Ninja for hire. I requested off of work that weekend, did a lot of the tiles, added a new twist to the story, and made some text boxes for it. However, some of the members who volunteered weren't as prepared perahaps. Some barely did anything at all, but it was still a good experience for me and others, I am sure.
My point is this community can still function even if things don't always work out for us. It is here to be a place to share ideas and learn. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

Have you noticed the people that actually make sensable games aren't the causes of the problems here? And the people that do post the "unsensable games" make them basically one inside joke after another.
Oh and to answer whoever asked whose making games anyways. I'm currently working on Battle Royale. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Ugh, you know what, guys.
First of all, the "EVERYONE IS EQUAL" philosphy is a crutch for people who don't think they can or for some reason don't want to improve themselves.
The fact is everyone is equally CAPABLE OF GROWTH AND IMPROVEMENT, but worth it NOT innate. Think of it as a stat as opposed to a bitset. Har har.
Secondly, if the issue is people BANDING TOGETHER, uh.
That's what happens. There are PEOPLE behind those forum names, and they make friends with one another, etc etc. Are you really going to be so sophmoric as to whine that the entire forum should be all for one and one for all? Who cares if you weren't in BONER QUEST NINE? Make your own stupid game if you want to have an injoke like that.
You're here to TALK ABOUT THE OHRRPGCE, if you go in with THAT EXPECATION then none of this social politics stuff even matters. _________________ ARRRR, GLADYS! CHALK IT, DON'T PLEASURE IT |

OHRRPGCE == Program used to create RPGs and other games.
OHR community == Community formed with the purpose of giving support to people who make OHR games. Ideally this would be in the form of advice and critiques, as actual material assistance does more harm than good.
And to go along with the current topic of discussion, everyone is hardly equal. Everyone's thoughts and "opinions" are hardly equal. That's why some people's games are better than others. _________________ im realy ded |

you know what? you're not the only one. I myself wouldn't post much anyway, but I've gotten a few PMs on questions from a few annonymous people, because they were unsure about the hostility of some of the members.
I don't check every thread, because...
(1) some of the threads just go way off topic with flames or other things (which probably what I'm doing right now)
(2) some of them seems repetitive or uninteresting (I mean, who gives a horse shit that your game got 1337 downloads, get over it).
(3) just plainly, no time. _________________ If we were a pack of dogs, IM would be a grand Hound, CN would be a very ficious little pitball, and Giz...well, it doesn't matter breed he is, he'd still be a bitch

>>>First of all, the "EVERYONE IS EQUAL" philosphy is a crutch for people who don't think they can or for some reason don't want to improve themselves.<<<
The above quote is a declaration, not an opinion And so I will say, that you are wrong, because I myself hold this philosophy to be true, while knowing I can, and do try to improve myself on a constant basis. I believe in it because I'm an idealist, and there is nothing wrong with that.
By the way... geologically large socialogical forces tell you that stabbing someone in the neck is wrong. It is society that teaches us this, just as all the influences in your life are what make you who you are--because of specific experience and knowledge gained. We are the product of our world, like it or not.
There was a comment about bad games. Who really has the right to say what is and what isn't? Opinions are too subjective to give them a standard. I would rather everyone participating and contributing by making bad games a lot of the time, than there being absolutely nothing there.
>>>one big community game<<<
You are stepping in the right direction, suggesting an idea, being a constructive part of the community; my humble thanks
But, a game cannot come together with so many people--so many conflicting personalities--trying for one unified goal. It is, like say, communism, a nice idea in a lot of ways, but unworkable here, because of human traits. A game has to have a tight group, and a tight plan, to work and to reach its goal--even to get finished.
By the way, even I am getting a game going. I got a team together three weeks ago, and we're in pre-production of a game called the Crest. I've got awesome people, so I've got great hopes for it
Please, if anyone else has ideas, don't be afraid to put it out there. IM's reading, I'm sure _________________ SACRE BLEU!
