I want to create a special menu, to look at Clow Cards. The details:-

I want a script to look at what Clow Cards you've collected by looking at tags/or items in a menu, and make them selectable in my new menu, where it brings up a text box. The menu could be brought up with the 'C' key for example. At the minute there's going to be 52 Cards (maybe more).

It would be a really good if someone could help me to produce a script. I will be very grateful.

What are the cards going to be? NPCs or maptiles?

OK, I'll help.
Do you want an image of the selected card to appear for the second menu?

I'm guess she'd want a card image per tileset, and a huge list of all the cards she has. (possibly on a different map)

Thanks Cacti.

I wanted the special menu to have the Clow Card names in text and when you selected them a text box appears (with the text box I can then show a backdrop in the background). Everytime the text box finishes it brings back to the list of Clow Cards.

Heh, if all you want is interaction and stuff, you could always set something up similar to my rigged I-can't-really-program-to-save-my-life .hack//OHR script.

<.< >.>

Also, the password to edit the game in Custom is "myrmidon".

Or, you could just do it the real way, but this way you don't have to be smart to do it. Raspberry!

Ok.

I say it's time to get rid of that terrible blocky looking 1-tile-per-letter font used in all OHR games, to neaten up the menu : P

Heh. Yeah, I know what you mean. That's why most of my menues have specifically drawn text which could be done a lot better if I took the time to care.

Modifying the palette is the easiest method, not writing text with npcs. I don't think I've ever seen anybody edit the palette for something other than a day/night system.

Now you've confused me now: Neutral

So what would I have to do? Teleport to a new map and then add NPC's over the top? I totally don't know how to do it. ^_^; I need an "idiots guide to making your own menu" But by doing this as NPC's, there's only 35, when I need at least 52! Unless you I do a 'page down' and 'page up' with a new map and set of NPCs...

Someone help! Oookay...

What TMC refers to is:

Making a screen that has all the menu text on it, but making all the menu text painted in different color indexes. In such a way, if you had 10 menu items, the menu item one would be colored in index 1 and so forth. Then when running the menu script, you would begin by making all the menu items the same color. To highlight a menu item you would just change its color.

He made a demo of this at some point, it's really a great way to use it.

Don't worry, I'll set it up for you. You will set all the text and background into a bmp file. Maybe I'll see you on MSN.

Do you want a background for the menu? Text on black doesn't look too good : /

Okay, Cardcaptor. I have really good advice for you:

Just ignore everything I say about scripting and listen to everyone else.
