is there such a thing as toooo much society bashing in a game??? I ask this of you because when one of my friends played my game he said it was great but there was too much society bashing and i want to no if you think there is a such thing... I think he said this cause in my game there's a kkk lynching, black panthers doing a drive by, the pope is a rapiest (who you kill), lots of drugs, the pmrc start murdering musicians because they can't censor there music, a holy war between christians mormans, and muslums, a presidential assination, and there is like 5 times more stuff like that in my game. Take into acount there are 30 cities in my game and it is about 30 hours in length. Now is that too much or is my friend just nuts?
so really i ask too questions...
1)is there a such thing as too much society bashing?
2)is there too much in my game?

the sad thing is that i predict that the people who hate it will admire it because i put some crazy stuff in it script wize (when i say crazy i mean stuff noone has seen before). that and like i said in another thread its going to be like 60 hours long!

But anyway Bob, maybe you should post the game up and let us check it out via first hand experience, just to truly determine whether it is too much or not.

Muslims are Christian too. Muslims are the most loyal Christians at that, they're the only group that hasn't rearranged the Bible to their own tastes. Your game sounds honest. Consider the similarities with real life: A holy war between Bush, a Christian, and Osama and Sadam, Muslims. Consider that the cops who shot Amadou Diallo 41 times recieved no punishment. All the child molestors in the catholic church. I've met WWII veterans who've told men they'd sleep easier at night if someone assassinated W. Bush. One in every three people habitually uses illegal drugs, so that's not even considering all the people sniffing glue, taking codine or morphine, drinking excessively, smoking cigarettes, addicted to pain relievers, addicted to coca cola or coffee, addicted to chocolate, addicted to sex, drinking cough syrup and so on. Consider all the teachers being fired now that we can't afford them and how if we just took a tenth of the money we put into the military and put it back into schools we'd have no problem, of course a tenth of the military money is 30 billion friggin' dollars.

Anyways, if there was such thing as too much society bashing, nobody would read Kurt Vonnegut.

yea ill get a demo ready for post (note: its HUGE! 2 rpg files).. all i have to say is when i release it i just pray it dosent fall into the hands of any of them activist groups otherwise ill be on the six o'clock news

There is no such thing as too much society bashing. Society is falling into shambles at the moment, as we humans carry out our natural desires to get above the other guy and reproduce. How can a society not deserve thrashings when even its religions, the institutions supposed to maintain morality (although I don't care for their technical definitions of it), are being consistently corrupt, hypocritical, and all around evil? How can we say we have a society when our governments, supposed to ensure our natural rights, take those rights away in the name of protecting them? At the current rate, we are definitely headed swiftly along the road to Armageddon. I hold great respect for anyone who puts out a work that brings the truths on these matters to light, because that show you are excercising your greatest right of all: freedom of expression.

Let me see...after we get through the Christian killing, the pope raping, and the KKK lynching, do we find anything fulfilling or meaningful that will bring us insight?

I personally think that, if these ideas are coming from someone who doesn't even know Mormons are Christians, I'd just guess you are basiclly fingering society in the crudest, rudest, ugliest way you can. Basically your simply trying to insult as many people as possible under the "cover" that you are making a deep politicial insight or showing us something we overlooked in society. It's not clever, and it's not original. It's called being a bastard.

Marilyn Manson tries his best to offend and fails miserably because he has nothing important to say. He likes to pretend he does, but he can't really rebel against the society that makes him rich. Michael Moore on the other hand makes movies that expose disgusting things about the government, but he has a message too: "The government does disgusting things". If the game holds its own morals and viewpoints I'm all for it, but like Shadowii says, if the purpose of the game is anger for the sake of anger then it would just waste peoples time. And I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you knew mormon is a Christian derived religion, because if muslim/Christian wars are possible then why not mormon/Christian? Most of Christianity is derived from paganism, and we all know how Christians and pagans get along.

Yes and YES. If it goes to the point to where it offends someone to the point of disgust, it's down right wrong. I don't think that you should even be doing a game like this < No Offense Intended > If you're going to smash people, do it in a way that wont raise the darker side of people up ( If that's possable). Only two things that are going to happen if you post this game:
1) The person is going to like it and play for abit
2) The person is going to get offended and completly speak againist it LOUDLY and try to get everthing in there power to stop it.

Games are usally ment to be entertaining and NOT REAL! So don't address issues that are not to be played with and leave them dead. REAL DEAD. If you want to speak out, do it at a rally, not in game. Neutral

If it's shallow and stupid it won't be offensive. People are offended by what they're afraid of. I remember some OHR game that was mostly hairy fat guys raping each other. I thought that was stupid, not offensive. It would've been offensive if I'd cared about the characters being raped. Offending people with art takes talent. Anyone who can offend with art has every right to it. When someone takes a cross and puts it in a jar of urine I don't find it offensive because it's not art, it's a cross in some urine. To offend with art requires that you really feel passionate about what you're saying.

A movie I loved that offended me was John Woo's "Bullet in the Head". I like being offended when it means something, and if it's meaningless I'm not offended, I just find it stupid. If someone's afraid of being offended then they're just afraid of learning and they're afraid of thinking about the world in a new way. Some people find Darwin offensive, and Martin Scorsese.
