What do you think the standard time for an OHR game should be? 30 minutes, an hour?! 15 hours? How much is too much. _________________ ---------------Projects----

It depends on the game, but if it isn't anything special keeping it short is generally recommended. |

Short story OHR games are infinitly better then long RPGs, simply because long OHR rpgs usually aren't worth the time time to finish.
Play Bliss, any of Gilbert's Games, Pitch Black (shamless plug!), By the Seventh Book, etc. and you'll see what I mean. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

There are exceptions, of course: like FUABMX V4. I don't know if you can even download that game any more; it was close to 15 hours of awesomeness. (Albeit a bit unbalanced) |

I like long rpgs, so long as it doesn't drag on in endless boringness. _________________ "what everyone went around calling you white stormy?"

Most OHR games average around 2 hours. |

I think that it all depends on how the storyline is being pulled along. Like I know Mr.Triangle5 never should've been 5 hours long. Because the storyline dragged on and on and on. However, drag the storyline the right way and I suppose time won't really matter. _________________ ---------------Projects----

OHR games should be around 5 to 7 hours, 5 to 7 hours of non repetitive storyline. But if you do a good enough job (FFH, AH4- Disc 1), they can live up to 14+ hours with people still playing them. |

AH4 is NOT a good example of non-repetitive story. It is a perfect example of REPETITIVE story. Read my review. |

And FFH is an example of unbalanced gameplay, and a dull plot that gets boring very quickly.
A good long game is EOTE2, which entertained me until I finally beat it. It is also probably one of the best balanced games I've played on the OHR to date. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

...... Sorry.
Guess I just needed to list games it took ME a long time to beat......
.... and come to think of it, they are kind of repetitive. |

Everyone who says that has never played any of the other Legend of Cales. It's your fault there for suxing.
games are too long when they don't interest you anymore. |

In my opinion, RPGs should be long if they're prepared to capture your attention and keep you wanting to play more, but if it's boring as crap, it's not really going to help when the game is 40+ hours long. _________________

I agree with Wiz's comment on games being too long when you loose interest in them. Fortunately most bad games made with the OHR aren't that long.
Eh, at least you could fucking heal in my bad games. Can't say the same for most of those released these days. Trust me, they just make FFH look like a well put together game in comparison. That and I've yet to see anyone else here string together a 4+ hour OHR game in under a year, and repeat that exact same feat no less than 4 additional times. |
