My dear man, I find that to be somewhat derogatory. I do not have any hold over whom gets kicked or banned. The only way way I have any hold over whom gets kicked or banned is because IM loves me. Ahem |

if people find it such a distraction to making their game and are pissed off about it... Then WTF are you going on IRC and then complain about going on IRC... that's just plain childish.
you control your own life and others control their own lives. you have the ability to not go on IRC and not get distracted so you can work on your game.
the blame cannot logically be dragged onto other people who choose to go on IRC and have a bit of dirty fun, because you made the dicision to go on IRC and get distracted by it.
If you don't want to get distracted it's easier to either:
(a) minimize the IRC window when you want to work on your game and only Restore the window when you don't want to work on the game just yet.
(b) not go on the internet and just work on your game.
(c) not go on the channel that you find most distracting and work on your game in a bit of peace.
(d) don't complain about people distracting you and live with it.
the internet is not the same with real life, where people can physically make you do things with their presence or by force. the internet is in your hands, if you don't want distractions from IRC, DON'T GO ON IRC. _________________ If we were a pack of dogs, IM would be a grand Hound, CN would be a very ficious little pitball, and Giz...well, it doesn't matter breed he is, he'd still be a bitch
(no offense to anyone that was mentioned) |

Wow, way to miss the point. I think you're all just mad that I've exposed IRC for the thing it is - CN's social tool. But what do I know, I can just put words into your mouth and follow suit when CN posts something, and repeat what he says.

Originially I was going mention that you missed my point about how retarded your "go work on your games" argument is, but now I'm kind of busy being taken aback by the fact that you're making these rediculous conspiracy theroy "I've exposed blah blah blah"posts about AN RPG FORUM ON THE INTERNET. Have a little perspective, you crackpot. _________________

Internet Relay CHAT?! A SOCIAL tool?! Holy shit! This is a tool for socializing? All this time, I thought I was killing orphans in China!
Listen, no one's putting a gun to anyone's head to go to IRC. I figure, it's good, clean fun and I'd like to see more people there. I've pasted links to CP to some of my friends outside of the community, because I'd like to see them there as well. This whole thing is starting to get out of hand a little bit. I figure, 90% of this community is Amateur game makers. Hobbyists, actually is probably a better term. Making games isn't their lives, it's something they do for fun, and enjoyment. I see no problem with taking a day off on something you're doing for fun. And, I've found that over the years, when I get tired of working on my game, I can go to IRC, relax, calm my nerves, and start thinking at a new angle. IRC is indeed what you claim. A social tool. To be used for good, or evil. |

No, you want to bring more people on to qualify your addiction to IRC as "fun" and "exciting".
This is exactly why you were fired in the first place from your previous employer. Because IRC took precedence over you finishing your games. _________________

| All I'm trying to do is advertise a service that I enjoy heartily. Like CN pointed out, it can be used to discuss game ideas, or to make friendships, assemble a team. I personally use it to help figure out dialogue, and to take a break, and because I like it. I've seen other people use it to teach plotscripting, or to help out with graphics, exchange game files, etc, but it doesn't really matter. All I'm doing is extending an invitation to an aspect of Castle Paradox that I feel is unjustly forgotten by most of the users. This thread is coming dangerously close to becoming a Flame War, and I hope everyone minds their tempers. |

It's not a "feature" of Castle Paradox, since there's around 50 other OHR irc channels that I've been in.
You mentioned the IRC channel more than 3 times in a thread by the way. 6 month ban. _________________

Considering the IRC channel is the topic of the thread, it isn't really spamming to keep bringing it up, is it?
(If anyone's having problems getting there, I can help out. Whoops, that's 4.) |

Listen, I think Fyre has an excellent idea there.
My train of thought just stopped as I was about to add to that statement, but I love this.

According to CN, it is.
Don't you have to wait around for him to show up just so you can talk to him again? How exciting. and fun! _________________

| Since Fyrewulff apparently can't keep personal comments out of this thread, and since all of you are obliging his rather harsh tone by giving him more fodder to twist, this thread is closed. Fyre, for the...what, 6th time, you're banned. In this case, talk to me about becoming unbanned, we've really got to work on this temper problem of yours. |
