for drawing and importing enemy graphics. Bascially how this works is I need one with a pallet similar to the OHR's but able to save in the 16 color requirements that the OHR needs AND be able the import relatively easily. The reason is I'm drawing some freaking huge enemy graphics (five or six large enemy graphics) but it is extremely difficult to do this on the ohr, plus I'd like a bmp copy on my computer for back up.

Pretend I'm a complete idiot when it comes to these things (and I am!) and I need an easy program. Can anyone recommend something?

I've tried Paint Shop Pro, MSPaint, Ultimate Paint, and Photoshop, but I can't seem to get into an easy customizable pallet for them.

Any ideas? I'd really apprecaite it. I could just draw all 6 enemy graphics in the OHR but that would be a major pain in the butt...

Thanks in advance.

Last I heard, you can download a OHRRPGCE pallete for Paint Shop Pro off the OHRRPGCE website.

Personally, I like the OHR graphics editor. I tend to do better with that than in other programs.

I'm with Iblis. It's just so much easier to use the editor in Custom.

yeah, i agree with iblis as well... to some extent.

the only reason i'd use an outside program would be to develop a backdrop or large picture that needs to be broken up into tiles for a maptile set.

Deluxe Paint. You can't directly import the OHRRPGCE palette, but its palette is quite close to the OHR's. Just watch your colors, as I haven't seen a way to make it force you to use a palette of 16 colors.

I use MS paint, but you said you've tried that, so...

You said to pretend you're an idiot with these things, so here's the steps to make an optimized palette in The GIMP:

1) right-click on your pic in The GIMP
2) go to image
3) go to mode
4) make sure "generate optimal palette" is selected
5) set the # of colours to 16 or 256 depnding on the graphic
6) check "no colour dithering"

The shades are altered in the OHR, but only minimally. This is what I've used to import my graphics into the OHR easily.

...I dunno if this will have any use to you, but what the hey.

I know this is kind of a dead post but I know of a good gfx program, d-pixed. It lets you import palettes, change them to 16 colors, it has gridding which is good for maptiles. The ony downside is that it's in japanese...I used to have the english version but I deleted and can't seem to find it anywhere anymore!

At least she bumped it with some useful content. Except for the part about not linking you to something.

That is exactly what I was going to ask. Is that a compressed format or something?

Try
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=lzh
Even though I've never used it, I know its a compressioned archive file.
