What would I like to see? A built-in backdrop editor would really help me out and probably others as well. _________________ "There is no subsitute for strength, and no excuse for the lack of it." |

What I'd like would be change hero graphics and change hero pallete plotscript commands. I can't think of why it would be too difficult or impossible either (I should mention that I have practically no experience in programming whatsoever though). With that command, it could be possible for different armors and weapons to make heros look different(assuming that equipping a weapon/armor could call a script(can they? I'm too lazy to look now)). This is something I've been wanting since plotscripting was first introduced.
And if such a command exists then ignore this and please tell me exactly where such a command is! I have been known to be blind to things right before my eyes.

'set hero picture (who,picture,type)'
and
'set hero palette (who,palette,type)'
That's them! _________________ Preserve OHR history! Do it for the children! |

Wow! This thread is up to four pages.
I'm just suprised, when I posted this topic I never expected it to reach four pages! _________________ This is my signature |

Talic, you can always use the maptile editor to make backdrops.
Now, if the keyboard stops working, then how would a button help? What we really need is mouse-compatiblity for the entire editor, so that if your keyboard stopped working, then you could safely exit the editor and restart. I know, because I have the same problem, and have lost a good deal of work because of it. It is quite exasperating.

Somebody should let James look over this thread, if he hasn't already. Most of the things are a bit far off, but some are pretty nifty, do-able ideas. _________________ You got film in my video game!

I can think of a few things...
1) When NPCs are imported, it would be useful to select an area of the image (bottom right corner, center, etc) to import from. Currently, all NPCs are selected by cutting a 20X20 square from the top-left corner of a .bmp file.
As a result, importing a full set of walkabouts will take 8 seperate 20X20 files. It would be much more efficient to import all these NPCs from a single 320X200 file, using a method similar to the "Cut Maptile" option.
2) A brightness control option on the game.exe menu (for those of us with severely dark monitors).
3) CD-Audio support! I can foresee many possibilities with this...
4) It would be great if there was an NPC bitset that determined overlap dominance. In other words, the graphics of an NPC with a higher overlap rating would always overlap the graphics of an NPC with a lower overlap rating. I am not sure just how feasable and/or possible this idea is, though. _________________ War doesn't determine who's right...

I agree squall.
Somebody should show this page to Paige... heh.
We could make some changes in the next OHR update. OF course, only the ones that are possible would make a change. _________________ This is my signature |

That would be a useful one, like layers. I think (I'm too lazy to test it) that the npc that appears on top was the last one put down. You'd think that ones with a higher/lower number would appear over the others, but in custom you can place whichever one you want over the other. _________________ Preserve OHR history! I thought of another nice plotscripting command to have:
set formation frequency(formation set, frequency)
"formation set" is the formation set (duh) you want to alter.
"frequency" is what the new frequency for encountering formations in that set is. _________________
