the other day I thought wouldn't it be funny/stupid to make an ohr
karoke "game"

Think of this, rip some catchy midi tunes from famous artists.
Next take some screenshots of their music video.
Then play a series of bam files with text boxes been shown at the same
time!

It would be time consuming yet funny. and yes Bam files mostly
sound like noise if you rip'em. Happy scripting!

Well, first you should know it's spelled karaoke.

While I'm personally not interested in this project there will probably be those who are, so if you wanna do it, go for it.

I'm not sure, but I don't think a tick run at the same speed on all computers. That might make it hard to make the words fit.

Since I can't spell the "k" word i'll just say it in japanese english,
Ka-wee-okay.

I have made a few attempts at making a video, though it looks a bit
like a slide show. Does anybody know a good (accurate) way to rip frames
from videos without having to copy and paste indivual frames?

I have found a way of getting around the 'tick' problem, just use the
show text box command and have the textbox play a 'verse'.

Each verse could be a small section of a midi file, which would mean
better conversion too. Happy

Though there's still alot of work to do, I'll have to leave this project for
a while since I have other things to do. But good luck to anybody who
has a go, it's not as easy as it sounds!

Anybody have any good ideas for Ka-wee-okay based on ohr games?
Wandering hamster would be ridiculously funny, especially if some of those tunes were to be sang by Bob and james!

Is there a song writer in the house?

Can anybody suggest some tips when importing high quality screenshots
of video? I have made various attempts but with many flesh tones coming
out as bland shades of gray.

I also thought it would be funny to have a little curser or something
going along the words. Bah! I'll just try to get something done rather than
worry about the little stuff.

Try saturating the colors on your screenshot and then importing it into custom. Saturating just brings out the bright colors. This can be done in most programs like PsP.

Or, you can do it the way I do.

Greyscale your screenshot and import it into custom.
From there rip it back out and add the colors back in by HAND!
Using the custom's colors of course. This method seems more accurate
in my opinion.
Perhaps someone els can give you better tips on the subject.

Whoa. I guess I'll be the only one to think this is a bad idea.

1) BAM files are crappy. I can hardly tell what a song is when it's played in BAM format.

2) 320x200 256 colors? That's gonna look weird.

3) Who wants to read the lyrics?

Seriously, think of the end result and then think if you would want to "play" it if you didn't make it.

Sure bam files are crap, but as long as you can make out the baseline
then why complain? Ka-wee-okay is about the spirit, the atmosphere and
erm... the booze!

I reckon with a few jars nobody'll really care anyway!

The best I can come up with is a slide show of images with a noisey
outcry. btw, Ka-wee-okay is about having fun singing the words,
who needs the lyrics to be sung when you can sing yourself?

You do have a voice don't you squall?...

Or you could always make it like an OHRRPGCE version of those flash movies with weird, nonsense (or japanese) songs in the background with stuff showing that makes even less sense than the songs.

You could play something like a battle music from (insert random game here), and have nonsense words scroll across the bottom of the screen while characters from (insert same random game here) do completely pointless stuff, like throw smiley faces at each other and jump in and out of manholes while yelling out nonsense like "FNRRF YGM SCHNISH!", "BLOO-BLAH!", and "PICKLES!!!1!!1!".
