What this all about?
Well, I've got a Maya 7.1 sound card soleley for the ability to record vocals in 24-bit for better quality. So, because I wanted to test this quality, along with a new technique of mono-channel recording for the music, I decided to kick off a new album. The name is different because I'm going for more of a alt.rock/screamo type thing. The first song isn't really in the screamo category, but some others to follow are.
I'll just update this as I go along.

Updated. I didn't upload track 2 because I have to re-record the vocals, `cause they quite frankly sucked. Track 3's up though, and personally, I fear it'll be the only "good" song on the whole first half of the album...

(((Inner Setu: That's probably self-skepticism talking.)))

Hey Setu, I listened to both tracks, and here are my thoughts. I apologize ahead of time if you weren't looking for thoughts, I just supposed it would be a more useful reply if I had something to really say about them. A warning: I'm very much a sincere and honest person; my comments are not personal. Feel absolutely free to do the same with me

Ok here goes,

I generally have my own personal problems with mainstream alternative rock these days. A lot of it follows the same patterns, such as blinding repetition (though this is not a new trend), how the lead guitar and backup guitar should play together, etc., (power chords are so over used it hurts). But I guess some people like to listen to the same stuff. In these ways, I'd liken it to hip-hop. Sorry if that offends : P Also reminds me of essays back in my high school honors classes. Always a bunch of limitations of form. Not my thing, really. There's some merit in these tracks, though, don't get me wrong, it's just not the stuff I'd play.

Can't Forget's main riff is pretty awesome as a good point

I would only suggest recording the lyrics at a time of day when you can sing your heart out; it just sounds like you're sitting down at a computer, and you're not really putting your talent into it, almost as if you're afraid you'll breath on the mic. Move the mic away from you a bit, and sing like you mean it! What could also boost it is, if you've got a PA, or something that'd work, record what's coming out of that, and put a shit load of confidence in your voice's performance, not necessarily volume, just feeling.

The "screaming" though, sounds good.

This would be my personal opinion talking again, but the screaming, instead of being echoes of snatches of the lyrics, could be something you launch into FROM the normal lyrics. Could add to the power of the message, by communicating that it's an outburst of emotion, rather than a flourish.

I did like Last Words to You a lot more. The same voice points apply, though the melody you've got going for the lyrics are nice to listen to. This song I could listen to a few times.

So far, I guess my only qualms are the fine points. I know the difficulties of writing music. So keep it up dude, no matter what someone else's opinion is. As I'm sure you know damn well, music is all about what makes you happy,

Listened to Track 1 and 3. Is it me or the drums overpower the other instruments? Did you use actual guitars or synths? (I cant tell off the bat). One thing really bugs me. It feels very layed over. As in, you can really tell you sang over the recording. Dont know if you wanted that but, hey. Decent singing, but you need more umph. Umph I tell you! Anyway, cool works. I wanna hear more of this Big grin .

Updated. Added tracks 2 and 4.

Don't be surprised if you think track 2 sucks major ass, because I personally was disappointed with it myself. Plus, I have no idea what the song's about. <.<

Track 4 I was pleased with, although it seems the vocals might be too loud (or that's just me).

But, try to enjoy.

UPDATED!

Added track 5, "Fly". Trust me, this song is different... but I actually thought it turned out rather catchy.

UPDATED! Added track 6 "No-Face".

Now, I worked me arse off on this one, so I hope you guys enjoy it. Along with the MONO recording technique, I also set in motion the new EQing principles I learned from the Frequency Table I pulled up to help enhance the quality, so I hope you can experience the difference.

LYRICS:
Code:
NO-FACE

(v1) What's wrong here
You can't see us anymore
We seem to have faded
In the nights before
We can't accept this good-bye
They shouldn't be forever
Sweep our hearts from the floor
That they may piece together

(ch) Without a name we wander the streets
Watch the world pass us by never caring to see
that Although we change you stay the same
in your circus of fools

(v2) Our faces fading in the wind
I thought that I would tell you now
that you created us
and everything that we've become
I must demand an answer
Scatter your pages on the floor
Just look at me
Just look at me

Quality songs, as to be expected. The second song's instruments sort of overshadow the voices a little. Sing from the diaphram, man. The screams are nice and clean. Big grin

These are well composed, dude. I could almost see these on a professional CD label. The singing is probably the weaker part, like something I could do, but it's still pretty good. Wink

Edit: "Second Wind" is pretty clean in the vocal area, I have to admit. Sounds more confident.
Edited Edit: "No face" Is probably my favorite. I'm guessing it's like a title track. Excellent composition. It's very dynamic, especially that solo near the end where the guitar, or guitar sounding instrument went nuts. That was really cool.
