What is Sword of Jade: Parallel Dreams?
Sword of Jade: Parallel Dreams, shorted as SoJ:PD is the OHRRPGCE-based masterpiece of Kevin Charbile Loan and Michael FyreWulff Kidder, made under the banner of the company Radical Poesis Game Creations, or RPGCreations for short. Using every single feature of the OHRRPGCE engine to it's fullest extent, and even making use of the engine to an extent not seen before ( we had to have a special HamsterSpeak compiler made to compile the scripts, because they broke the original compiler!), it has been those most important project of both author's careers so far.
How long has SoJ:PD been in development?
Although it's not exact, around March 1999 FyreWulff began work on the first prototype of what was then known as Sword of Jade 2. Over the years the game has constantly shifted and change it's appearance, various parts of the story, script revisions and developement hurdles. SoJ:PD will complete it's epic 6 year development upon release.
Well, what features does Jade have? All cool OHR games have gimmicks and features, what's Jade's hook?
Lacking gimmicks and only features, SoJ:PD was the first OHR game to fully implement Realistic Time Synthesis, in which the different phases of the day are simulated in real-time. This is integrated into the story, plot, and theme of the game; it is not simply a palette change for show.
There are many other features as well, but these are for you to discover once you play the game!
Is SoJ:PD free or are you charging for it?!?!
SoJ:PD will be both free and cost money. There will be a basic version of the game available for free download upon release; the game, the player, manual and a couple of other things. However, a published CD version will also be available in the 12$-20$ price range, which will features loads of extras, such as the Making Of, concept art, and loads of other goodies, and the scripts to the game. There may also be demos of our games and other company's games too. Speaking of which, if you would like your game included on the CD, please contact me via PM or mwkidder@rpgcreations.com with the subject "Jade disc".
So, why should I care about Sword of Jade?
It raises the bar for OHRRPGCE game making, on visual, effort, and thematic levels. For one, the game surpasses the current general length of OHR games, which usually last a half hour or hour - SoJPD can be beaten on 10 hours in a speedrun (or shorter, but you must remember FyreWulff is not too good at speedrunning RPGs) or 25+ hours if you take your time. Two, any author should be able to look at the blood, sweat, and tears put into this game and be inspired to create and complete their own works.
Who's doing the music?
The music frontman is Colin Jazz Man Sandall. His tracks will be supplemented by public domain selections.
Will there be a soundtrack available?
Details on any sort of soundtrack have not been discussed at this time.
Didn't Royal do the graphics for the original Sword of Jade?
Yes. Although I appreciated his work on the game, the Dogero and other graphics he drew did not work with the game's vision, and so they have been left behind a long time ago. The "Royal Dogero" may or may not be available as a cheat code/easter egg.
What happened to the Windows version?
The Windows Jade was cancelled due to technical difficulties in creating the game to FyreWulff's standards. Both FyreWulff and Charbile look forward, however, to the various programmers completeing the Windows ports of the OHRRPGCE engine, and look forward to Jade running to it's full potentional on an enhanced engine.
Will Sword of Jade be enhanced for the Windows OHRRPGCE ports?
As soon as documentation and the tools exist, Sword of Jade can and will be optimized to take advantage of any special effects these new OHRRPGCEs will offer.
What license will Sword of Jade be released under?
SoJPD will be released under the Rpgcreations Non Public License (RNPL).
Will a "Director's Cut" be released later on?
This is the director's cut. Since we answer to no-one, we included everything we wanted to the first time around.
What about patching? What if I find this huge showstopping bug that threatens to make the foundations of modern society crumble and fall, will you release patches to fix that?
Any bugs we manage to miss will be fixed and patched as soon as possible.
So, I'm still sitting here, reading your post. What do I do now?
Feel free to comment, attack, defend, riposte, or put Jade on a pedestal. Wait for May 5th to come, and play the game. Then you will understand why.

Seeing as how this is an obvious attempt to start a flamewar (INVITING us to attack? Ho ho!) and earn free publicity for SoJ2, let's hijack the thread, and take it into a more intriguing direction. Anyone for a download boycott of SOJ:2, or PD, or whatever the fuck it is? No need to pay into his criminal delusions. |

Even if this was the real thing, I wouldn't buy it. I feel that OHR games should be free to download. This is an OHR community, not eBay. Paying money for OHR games is TEH SUXOR (Except for the seller.)

Eggie, you misread if you think you'll have to pay to play it.
On the other hand, "Lacking gimmicks and only features" is possibly the worst sentence construction I've ever heard out of Fyre. _________________

The game sounds great and all. Hope it shall be as good as said.
Why not just release it with all the "added features" included. This OHR for crying out loud - An engine provided to you free of charge - Why keep us here from fully enjoying your game. _________________

Buying the CD is sort of a "donation to his cause", since the normal full game is free. If you guys haven't been reading his post correctly, the "CD version" is the normal game and DVD style extras. _________________

lol to be expected.
This game should definitely be almost partially worth our wait, Mike. I admire you for your hard effort with this. You won't give up no matter what. Kudos. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

You'll have to explain to me exactly HOW a "making of" CD, concept art, and the game scripts will enhance the enjoyment of the game itself in any way. It's like saying a horrible movie is awesome because it comes with a DVD-rom game. _________________ im realy ded |
