I'm having trouble making music. Now, I'm a "musical" person, sort of a Grant Kirkhope-Danny Elfman style, but I can't seem to get my thoughts on paper (or, in this case, my cathode ray tube). Anyone have suggestions for making the music I'm thinking? _________________ "Everyone has 200,000 bad drawings in them, the sooner you get them out the better."

Listen more to the music you listen to.
But seriously though, if you listen so much to an composer's music, you will find yourself unable to create your own content. You will have a great urge to steal some segments. Almost like trying to make a story after watching a great movie.
If you want to be original, it will have to come to mind. Whenever you are doing something, think of a song that would accompany the mood. |

Actually my problem isn't thinking of music, it's putting it on paper. Is there some sort of free tutorial or do I have to take a college course (which I was thinking of doing anyway)? Anyway, If anyone can teach me to write the music I think of, teach me for free and then become professional. Also, I would just make piano music (with the occasional woodwind) but I am terrible at chords. Teaching me to make piano music would also suffice
By the way, in case you haven't noticed, I'm horribly cheap, and I'm proud (it helps me be thrifty). _________________ "Everyone has 200,000 bad drawings in them, the sooner you get them out the better."

Okay:
LongeBane - What you're asking him to do is reasonable, that he should listen to others' music, however, not all the time will original music ideas just "come to you". Sometimes you have to let someone elses style rub off on you and write your own piece based on his/her mood.
Joe Man - There's years worth of theory I could teach you, but I don't really have a lot of time. I will let you know if I come across any online tutorials, though.
If you are going to write by chords, though, I don't recommend writing it in "sheet music" form, `cause that is more theory based than chord based. Chords are more suited for guitar music or people who play by ear, but actual sheet music composition needs to be done by music theory. _________________

Well, I have a piano I used to play a bit. I still practice sometimes. Any "rules" for making good chords? _________________ "Everyone has 200,000 bad drawings in them, the sooner you get them out the better."

Wow. I wonder if I'll ever get past the first page. I don't know where to start. _________________ "Everyone has 200,000 bad drawings in them, the sooner you get them out the better."
