No matter how often I read it, it still sounds like it's referring to the whole game.
If it should refer to only a few formations it would be like this:
Quote: | but one thing that can help balance elemental damage is to sometimes have enemies with different strengths/weaknesses in the same battle. |

Well, Newbie is right, I meant just some formations. I also hate the idea of having only a few different formations in an area. Then again, I want to bring up that even if all of the formations had varying elemental weaknesses and absorptions, that doesn't mean the area-plasma attack is useless. It is a viable option if the player sees the plasma-weak enemy as a greater threat, and/or if there are more enemies weak to plasma than absorbing it in the formation. But in any case, I did not mean to imply that all formations should be this way, and the articles Newbie pointed out would get that across to a native speaker, I think.
PS: The Jean Luc picture is really great for such moments. _________________ My first completed OHR game, Tales of the New World:

Did... I miss something? Who started talking about a area-plasma attack? _________________ 'Wyrd bið ful aræd.' |

Just forget about it.
Just keep in mind: Do many different formations for each area.
Also what I really like is if not every single tile on a dungeon floor uses the same formation set. For example a little bit deeper into the dungeon but still on the same floor should have slightly harder formations imo. Or even make the formations depend on the "maptile" graphic. Many people use it for the world map (desert has different formations than grass) but not enough use this in dungeons as well. |
