Move it somewhere else. The original poster's question was answered anyways.
FFX could be really easy, as in my case where Rikku did 99999 damage every hit with quick hit. That, however, is an extreme. I think it was slightly too easy. It wasn't designed for the gamers like Aeth who like to level-up for eons before they can fight a boss. And so, I don't see that as a design flaw, but rather in a difference in what constitutes a good game.
Quote: | There are recent popular (or semi-popular) RPGs that I like, Disgaea being a wonderful example of such. I think it's a really, really great game, and it is a good example of a story being built around a game, not the opposite, which is the flaw of many games today. |
Aeth, Disgaea didn't have a story, sorry to let you know. The entire point of Disgaea was to level your characters to level 9999, and then level your weapons to 9999, and then finally your potions to 9999(I'm serious). It's still a fun game though, However, FFX had a much better plot.
I feel your pain on character individuality though. Even in FF6 you didn't use Sabin to cast spells because his blitzes were so much better. In FFX it was... decent. You never really got all your characters to have everything unless you levelled to infinity. |

That wins my "game quote of the week" Of course, the exception would be Xenogears, but the only reason that survived was because it had both gear and human battles. The spells in that game were pretty bad.
I've played FFX, but I don't own it. My overall opinion was...I didn't enjoy it. I honestly can't comment on anything besides that because it was a while ago. I have, however, played all the PS and before FF's. I was very mad when they made FFTA have almost the exact same system as FF9. Seriously. Lets just regurgitate old systems and not even TRY to mask the fact we regurgitated them. GRRR.
Uh, yeah. Hopefully the next Dragon Warrior will rock, because I can't say I'm looking forward to Final Fantasy games much anymore. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

FFTA exactly like FF9!!!??? that's popostorus!!!!!
FF9 didn't have the flexibility and repetitive gameplay as FFTA.
FF9 was much better than FFTA, where everyone in the game has it's own individual usefulness and possibilities.
FFTA, even the main characters were exactly like the average unit given.
I'm can't say i'm looking forward to future FF games produced by Squaresoft/SquareEnix _________________ If we were a pack of dogs, IM would be a grand Hound, CN would be a very ficious little pitball, and Giz...well, it doesn't matter breed he is, he'd still be a bitch

I never levelbust in games to make it easy, Tarot Master. That's a silly assumption and I never even said that, much less hinted at it. If anything, MCW is the levelbuster here. I like to keep the challenge at where the game wants it to be, even if that challenge is nil. I shouldn't have to make the game challenge me.
And Disgaea does indeed have a story. Every game has a story (even Pong). The story isn't the next Final Fantasy VI, but it is there. I think it's a great example of story built around a game because I also think too many RPGs these days focus too much on story and not enough on game. Story is definitely important, but the game is important too, and I think developers tend to forget that by building a game around a story. _________________
