Hi! I vaguely remember you from Zantetsuken. Those screenshots are excellent! The only thing that bugs me is the path in the third one, It looks a little gridlike. Otherwise I feel embarrased about the quality of my own graphics.

Thanks for all the compliemnts and critisms! They are very motivational! Making all those graphics is boring and hard most of the time, so the interest you guys are showing may be what I needed to keep me working.^^

Just as a note the Battle BGs were a 2 step job where first Shaede would make a sketch of anawsome BG and then I would Shade and Texture it. Without shaedes keen sense of BG design, the BGs would have been still nicely detailed, but very verry boring and not life-like.

The seemingly repetitive rocks and leaves in the village cannot be helped unfortunetly.. The block set is comletely packed full. There are about 30 count blocks for the cobblestone walkways and another 30 blocks for the leaves and trees. (soo many blocks because of all of the edges.) Any more than that ans there would have been any room for villagey details.

Hey Multicolored, all of the final fantasy games' title screens released on SNES were also black. Also 6 and 8 both had red gradient in their logos. Just wanted to note. ^^

Oh one last thing, I do agree about the plain card playing field background sorta.. I have pleanty of empty blocks left i can use too. Any Suggestions?

Ah, I was referring to the wsc remakes of ff1 and 2. I think 4 is like that too, but I don't remember.

The idea, MultiColoredWizard, is that we are making a unique Final Fantasy. The title screen, thus, isn't attempting to be a copy of any of the Final Fantasy games.

You can see it's original cast in those screenshots, in fact. Happy

Also, our plotscripting will at least match Moogle1's quality. In fact, it already has. I never really did as much plotscripting in my days in the OHR, but I've certainly been programming for years. As has Kain. This will most definatly show itself greatly in FFG, especially in aspects such as the card game.

Somehow I fear the size of our hss file when it nears completion. What?!?!

Because its like any Final Fantasy. It includes the basic themes and mascots we all know and love from the Final Fantasy series. But, unlike many fangames, its not a sequel to any of them.

Basically think of it as any released Final Fantasy. New story, new characters, new world, but with a few recognisable mascots, theme songs, and monsters.

Thats what I mean when I say its not a copy of any of the Final Fantasy games.

Its Shaede.. I saw so little of you in about a year on Zant, I never even realised you were part of the OHR community. I thoguht you were one of Zacks friends.. hi.

Whoa- awesome gfx, especially the bg's. I swear that grass is a saturation-increased photo. The problem with those pavement stones is they stand out too much. Try fading them.
I really don't like that roof in the town screen shot.. it looks flat and unattached to the rest of the building..

Great job, all in all..

Yeah, I was never part of the Zantetsuken forums much during it's time on the vBB. I was kinda busy with other aspects of my life (and other boards) during that time. I was more in the OHR community way before that. From about late 98' will early or mid '01 I think.

I was actually brought in by my friend Moogle1 (not Zack), who's apparently become legend around here. Ha ha ha!

About the graphics, I have the same feeling about the pavement, but I think we've found a way to make it come across better. After giving the town a look over, I realised that the screenshot I took captured more pavement in one screen then any other shot would have. By far. So, its really not as bad as I realised it looked. The roof though? Thets probibly not going to change. *pffft* (wheres my colon pee? What has Rinku done with it?)

Wow, I really think I'll like this game (But not because it's a Final Fantasy.) I like the idea os putting in classic Final Fantasy themes and stuff. I tend to do that in what I am creating.

Also, I got a whole lot of Final Fantasy BAMs that are good, and not junky, so if you need them I could send them right over to you, Shaede.

Thanks for the offer, but as every Final Fantasy game has an original sound track, we're trying to make sure this one does as well (minus the classic prelude/prologue themes).

Actually... to be honest, most of our music is ripped currently, even though from very obscure places so most of it would be unrecognizeable.

I just wanted to note that before we promise an original soundtrack, we plan to TRY to have original music, though i dont see any concrete evidence supporting that we will yet. I recently got a midi notator so that I could write some, but to my dismay it is a complicated peice of crap which is hard to use.. God I miss MIDIsoft studio 4.. T_T

Thanks for the offer Eggie. We already have alot of the ripped songs we need (Prelude, FF Theme song, 2 chocobo songs, A remixed fanfare, a remixed FF style battle theme never seen in any FF title) so unfortunetly we may not need any more FF music bams. If you have any neat village or town style bams that are pretty obscure and not used by any other OHR games currently, we might could use some of those.. We are definetly short of town musics. >_<

For town Midis, I have a ton on my computer. I'll wager 50 or so original style town, where about 20 of them (tops) are going to be used in my games. What style do you want? Soft? Easy listeing? More upbeat? I could ship some over if you are interested (I have about 500 original midis on my comp).

Ooo that sounds neat! ^^

Here are a list of the village music positions i need to fill for the first half of the game.

-Asian style upbeat.
-Asian style sad.
-islandy style. Steel drums and such
-March style
-Soft passive style
-Think BOF3 Port town style.
-Tribal Music style
-Sophisticated symponic style
-Taverny style
-marimba or xylaphone upbeat style

Do you have any that match these?
If we use any bams you have in game ill give you credit for supplying them.

Hmm, the ones I know I have are Asian Upbeat, island, march, soft passive, port, and tavern. I'm also pretty sure they haven't been in other OHR games as well. I also know the authors for most of them, so I can reference them to you so you can post it up. I'll get back to you; now I have to dig through my mess of a HD to find them. Oookay...
