Yes, I'd agree. I have a bad habit of "chibizing" my sprites, which leaves almost no room for legs or arms (see avatar). I personally stress the face, hair, and clothing over anything else (if they want to see him "beautiful," look at the battle graphic! Raspberry!), but thats just me.

But yeah, if you notice her hands look like crap. Partially because I'm not wonderful at hands, and mostly because I only had about 10 minutes to draw her entire walkarounds, so I reverted to "wuss" style. Happy

Hands...brrrr.....

The problem is that you guys are halfway between chibi walkabouts and realisitc walkabouts. If you went all out with one or the other, it would look better.

Personally, I go with full-fledged SD walkabouts.

Check it:

Heh...those look pretty awesome.

As for my "flaws" (that is, half-way between realistic and SD), I finally gave up and just called it my "style." Happy

I'm not sure what mine would be, but I'm guessing something like yours Shadow, though in much much much less detail XD Heh. Anyway, I'm working on modifying my pallettes so I can add shading and stuff to the sprites. Hopefully it'll work Big grin

Both.

Oh yeah, change of avatar. This is actually how I usually pixelate; the other was for Pitch Black and was done in a hurry.

As for personal preference (kinda off topic, kinda not) I prefer originality over SD. I only draw SD because I consider myself decent at it, but if you read my Powerstick Man review you'll know that I actually like original NPCs more.

Eh, whatever.

Hiw is SD unoriginal? It's not like I'm ripping and modifying FF5 sprites or something.

Not your NPC's in particular...I just meant Super Deformed (human) seem...somewhat unoriginal.

But I do consider them beautiful and all (and I really do enjoy looking at them) its just that...I dunno. I like it when game creators think out of the mold for their graphics and story...it makes it interesting.

But yeah, that reference was not for yours in the least, HG.

OMG WTF! Lets all post our favorite walkabouts (preferrably from our games) (not in, but from, sorry, thought Id catch thisbefore it was lost.)
as our avataurs! How is that for an idea? That way Ysoft can see our sprites, and maybe see what we are talking about...

*groans* Does anybody ever respond to my thoughts... Shut up Minnek (that was in preparation... Big grin )

i feel comfortable with my palette set up
black and white(2) (basically for outline and part of the eye)
Brown(1) (for the rest of the eye)
Light and dark blue(2) (for shirt)
light and dark silver(2) (for shorts)
Light and dark skin colour(2) (for skin Oookay... )
Light, medium and dark grey(3) (for hair)
light and dark brown(2) (for shoes)
Orange(1) (for misc. objects, like element in this case)
and of course transparency(1) (for background)

total of 16 colours, and with this set up if i'm lazy or trying different colour combinations i could always switch between palette sets.

i'm not going to upload an image, because i'm too lazy to do something that crazy. Big grin

Although it is always good to have many shades of green! heh. Actually just as well with every color. I think its a good idea to make a pallet for every hero, and unique boss, then you grafics are awsome, if you do them right. Large enemies have better grafics because of their size. The larger the grafic, more detail you can put into it; just dont use much of the gradience. I guess the point I am trying to make is that the walkabout sprites dont allow for much detail, as they are small. Use just 2, or 3 different shades of a color on those, but for Hero battle grafics use more.

That is why I said that individual pallets are goot- err good... Oookay...

I always thought that SD was a style. I haven't always agreed with what some people would do with it, but it's not really too big a problem.

And nice work, btw!
