I think my inability to die in my dreams goes back long before I played any video games that were in any way realistic. For example, mario falling down a pit, or one of the bubble-bobble-dudes being touched by baron von blubba. I was dream-immortal long before I ever touched-- for example-- a first-person-shooter.

When I die in a dream, I go to another dream. Videogame rules generally apply, but most of my enemies are unfair invincible dudes. Also, throwing a punch feels like trying to push my fist through Jell-O. I can use fireballs, but they do no damage.
My most pleasant dreams, since quite early in my childhood, have been the ones where things swallow me. This is bizarre, as with even the smallest reality check, this is one of the most horrendous ways to die (I blame cartoons that depict it as, at worst, a damp inconvenience). _________________ "I didn't start the flame war;
