Anybody have any qualms with the music? It was a while ago, and it's a unique opportunity to find out if any of it is too repetitive, unnerving, etc.
I only remember one specific comment made, and that was phc saying one of the niffleheim area's tracks had a first note that grated on the ear. _________________ SACRE BLEU!

Can you check the Vikings of Midgard Soundtrack page on the wiki, and see if anything needs correcting. There were several songs that I was uncertain about. |

Hey! I'm pleased you liked the music!
James, I think 'sleeptime' is something simple Fen put together using one of my themes. And of the rest of the songs with question marks attached, I have no clue. I also do not know which song Mega Boss Battle is; I don't remember titling anything with that title. It may be moogle's work. Any chance I could listen to it? _________________ SACRE BLEU!

No, that's definitely not my work. Who else composed for Vikings? _________________

Oh, ok that was me. Looks like someone named it for me. It's actually something I wrote for Flicker. I remember sending it to Fen for consideration, but I thought he decided not to use it. _________________ SACRE BLEU!

Hey james, could we listen to the rest of those question-marked songs? If one song was renamed without me knowing, it could happen again. _________________ SACRE BLEU!

I took the list from vikings.hsi exported from the Ubersetzung release version. I am guessing that the expanded version he is working on for later release (Voxhumana?) will contain the extra songs.
I wonder if he ever decided to use the Helheim's Ruins Dirge that Jeremy Jacobs wrote for him?

I'll try to get all of them uploaded when I get time. |

I composed two other songs for Vikings that are missing from the list, but I don't think I uploaded them to CP. I'll do that tonight. |

Fiends of Elements is a song that plays when facing down the 4 "themed" bosses, and is based loosely off of some of Bena's compositions. I do plan on using the Helheim Dirge, I just haven't gotten around to using it yet! Also I just realized that Panopticon and Long Silence are... ..too quiet. I should fix this shortly. |

Hey, Fenrir, should I label your tracks as Public Domain or GPL or some CC license?
Oh, also, I am curious about the remastered classical tracks. Who did updated those, for the sake of posterity... and maybe should I copy them to the 'Free Music' collection? |

Panopticon, Long Silence, and Fiends of Elements (whatever I called it) are public domain. Of this I am certain. Because I said so. Yes.
The remastered Ravel re-orchestrations of the "Exhibition" pieces (Bydlo Cart, Old Castle, Catacombs, and the Arabian Nights were based on recordings played on National Public Radio, and some extensive help by Mr. Dario Galamberti, who's help in piecing them together would have literally been impossible. The breakdown would probably come to 80% by ear, 15% consulting Dario and 5% the LSUS campus library for the actual sheetwork for parts I couldn't nail down Shows how useful libraries are in gathering information, but I will have to admit they did indeed have what I was looking for. I have no idea whether to call them PD, CC, or free-use aside from that everyone who helped (Dario, Leo's college teachers, the LSUS campus librarian who pointed towards the archives and then went back to sleeping) just wants to see me continue my interest in music. Except perhaps the librarian, she seemed more interested in sleeping. I render the decision on what to label them as your choice. Scans of sheets later, repeated emails, long hours spent hammering away in front of a keyboard, and incessant listening to low quality cassette tape recordings later have drawn me to this conclusion:
I am never touching music composition again. Spriting's where it's at. Seriously Bena, I have no idea how you do it. I would LOVE to replace the PD classical tracks in Vikings (and have mostly for the Voxhumana release) but as it stands they're in to stay. For now. |
