I think when new people join they should be sent a PM asking

1 Why they joined
2 Do they use ohr
3 Are they actually gonna talk or upload a game or anything.

I can see how this might bring wallflowers onto the dance floor, but some new joiners are usually either bots, or really don't find it necessary to talk anyways.

89% of all forum members world wide are lurkers.

Take my forum on Final Fantasy Q (lolz, pimpage). As of right now, there are 108 members. But, only about 30% have ever posted, and about 11% actually post regularly.

Alot of these new ppl, just join and put a website under their profile that has nothing to do with game making. I think alot of newcomers these dayz r just advertising.

Pako, why would anybody join a gamers forum to advertise something that doesn't have anything to do with gaming? Maybe, just maybe, they have other interests, and their website is based on that. Mine is an OEKAKI board, based on art, not gaming, but that doesn't mean I'm not interesting in games.

And yea, it won't matter if they talk or not. Some people would just rather be lurkers.

This is a bad idea, and only a hard-core nazi-style admin would try to enforce it.

Still, when a member joins, a little automatic PM could be send asking to fill out the CP census.

Personally, I don't see how this would be at all constructive. The only thing I can see coming out of this is less people joining because they're afraid that we're a tight strict community.

If rules are fairly enforced in a good balanced manner, than there would be no need for a census to inadvertently scare some people off.
