Leroy, it's more along the lines of:
1) sucks
2) has potential
3) playable
4) good
5) among the best
If you add half-stars to this, it screws the system up, but whatever.
Anyway, you all know I'm right. |

Actually, game ratings are quite common. Mostly they are used when a review comes out on a new game. Like in a magazine. Whether they use stars or bullets or naked woman. I guess it could be incorporated as a more detailed feature when skimming the list of games. But..then again that would only be used when there is a review...then why bother making a review....naked woman....Uggg..this causes to much thinking. I'll leave to you guys. _________________ Initiate game advertisment NOW! Stenmele Osmium

I think a rateyourmusic-esque reviewing system would be pretty great. It'd open it up for a lot more freedom in reviews. |

Hmm...What I think would be awsome and what would certainly give games (good ones) more hits, is if when you press "gamelist" you get a little screen that ask if you want games in alphabetical order or the recommended games list. Of course any sane human will pick the recommended list over the alphabetical. That is unless they are trying to find something specific. If we didn't want to take the time for a recommended formula, why not jusy have -C grade average and over 200 downloads=recomended-???
I dunno but what ever you do i think the submenu would fix all our download problems... _________________ Indy OHR! and National OHR Month Contest going on now!

Pfft, we all know what the BEST idea would be for a ratings system, but it would require some of the best minds in this community to be doomed to an eternity of endless pain and torture.
Just kill someone (who is capable of giving worthwhile reviews and comments) and attach his brain (hopefully with mind and consciousness still intact) to the CP gamelist/review system. Then force him to play every OHR game that ever gets uploaded to CP and review them accordingly. For all eternity. Including the newb games that would send any formerly sane person to the psyche ward. Some of you "human rights" activists (lol rights, that makes you Republicans) might be shocked at the suggestion of such a technique, but hey, it works. _________________ im realy ded |

amazon.com uses the five-star thing and it works pretty poorly -- does anyone actually pay attention to how many stars a book has when they are buying it?
because the community is so small, ohr games get downloads much more by word of mouth than by grades, reviews, download counts, top30 votes, etc. -- it's only the new people who download games based on those things. so i think our efforts are best used on other things than on this, such as uh making ohrrpgce games. _________________ Tower Defense Game |

I dunno. While I'm relatively new to CP, I've been in the OHR scene since early 2002. I usually only download games that have been reviewed. I have a lot of better things to do than to play a game that isn't worth the magnetic particles it takes to store it.
On the other hand, I also base a lot of my choices on the screen shot too. Maybe an option should be added to have more than one screen shot for any given game? _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.
