|
|
Hey once again,
I am working on a project that involves rare item drops. I recall reading in the documentation (unfortunately the exact passage escapes me) that 100% for rare item drops is not the same as 100% for 'normal' item drops. However, the documentation either neglected to provide the exact math or I have forgotten it.
So does anyone know how to calculate the actual percentage that a given rare item drop will have? I'd be grateful for any illumination on the issue.
Thanks in advance,

I don't know the exact number, but if you want the odds to be better make the rare % higher than the normal drop item/steal item's %. Like, Drop Item (1) 40% Rare Drop Item (2) 60%. I realize that isn't your answer but it is a way for the rare item to work. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Actually, I'm pretty sure the Rare Item% is a percentage of the Normal Item%. |

I'm not sure if this is right, but this is what i've heard. Dropped item is the percentage that an item will be dropped. Any item. If there is no rare item, then it will just be the percentage that the normal item is dropped.
If there is a rare item, the rare item percentage will be the percentage that the rare item will come up instead of the normal item.
Example:
20% drop item: potion
40% drop rare item: potion 2
20% of the time you will get an item. 60% of the time you get an item you'll get a potion. 40% of the time you get an item, it will be a potion 2.
The percentage overall of getting a potion is 12%, and the percentage of getting a potion 2 is 8%. _________________ My name is...

Yes. Uncommon and Drizzle, your explanations make a great deal of sense. I bet you're right.
Thanks for the help! |
